I might have some front suspension arms if it helps the cause?
Maybe Kenny should donate something, anything… Do the right thing maybe?
Yup considering his usual photography subject is either equestrian or macro stuff with insects the old boy done good! I’ve asked him to send me the high-res of all the images so I’ll ping it over to you Tim.
I don’t have any S2 bits to help but I can say don’t worry about your split of Jamie’s time, I had the lion’s share anyways,…I’ll pick it up.
Given you’re down a sizeable excess you have serious amounts of admiration from me as being the much bigger man.
Commentary from the first race of the season at Oulton:
__
- The second race was blighted by a first corner shunt that elminated many G20 runners after Jason Kenny lost control of his G40 at Old Hall and sent Ginettas scattering, the G20s of Mark De Spong, Jonny Greenwood, Nicholas Zapolski, Darren De Mattia and race one podium finisher Ingram all eliminated on the spot with damage, leaving just four cars to take the restart in class.
I cycle to work so I know I can ride a bike, I’m thinking of hiring a posh competition bike and pitching up at the velodrome,…I don’t think I’ll be a liability at all
causing an accident with a novice cross on the back… he wont be getting signatures required.
Hi All,
Once again just want to add my sympathies to Tim for what was, without doubt, an inexcusable shunt. The driver accepted full responsibility and was, in his defence, very apologetic. He did maintain however that he never saw any reds.
Also need to clarify/defend Rockingham here - I went up to race control and watched the whole sorry tale unfold on the CCTV. Race control respond immediately when Tim spins. It’s apparent from the footage that he’s trying to restart the car - and it’s also clear to see that he’s a long way off the racing line (evident as well by the sheer amount of tyre marbles and dust you can see in the video). As such race control do not announce red flags at that point as is certainly looked from the footage that Tim would be off and running within a few seconds.
The second Tim & Jamie have their hand out of the window the red lights & flags went out - i’m guessing about 60-70s after the initial spin.
The next 6 cars through all pass Tim slowly. Benja then makes a dramatic but controlled entrance (possibly having missed the reds too, but a decent enough driver to avoid throwing it off at that point!). The 8th car on the scene is the Ginetta who sees Tim way too late, brakes/lifts off and swaps ends before side-swiping Tims elise.
What’s inexcusable here is not that either car spun, nor even that anyone missed the red flags. What’s inexcusable is that anyone would think the marshals are the last-stop for liability. When you drive on track the marshals are there to help you. They are no supplement for your own observation and you should never assume that everything is OK purely because the marshals haven’t told you otherwise.
In summary, hitting a stationary car (having already passed him the lap prior) is inexcusable, regardless of whether or not there’s even any marshals at the venue.

So just off the phone with Steve Williams and on the plus side I’m up a rear Ginetta light cluster that was found in the boot.
The bad… Boths clams, rear wheel, knackered nitron, subframe bent, longeron kinked, upright & 'bones obviously.
So now we start the inevitable piss take from the insurer when they offer £2.50 and a free sticker.
Oh and CCI have confirmed I’d crossed all my Ts and dotted my Is, so can claim.
Excess is £1400
That’s a shitter Tim it really is. You should make a table lamp or summat out of the light cluster as a memento.
I do agree with Jonny wrt the responsibility falls squarely with the driver. However after seeing someone spin and then not seeing any waved flags red or yellow you kinda think they must have got going again…
Let us hope the insurance side is all sorted as quickly and as painlessly as possible…
fingers crossed
Sorry news
Perhaps we can get some - “I don’t care how many OBEs you’ve got…” Jonny Leroux (30th Apr '13) - T-shirts made to help fund it.
[Hope the humour effort is not too early]
Cheers, Ian
Come on Mike, get on it… Stick me down for a medium
Medium?
What like Mystic Meg
“…I’ve got a message from the other side,…it’s from Muu’s deceased rear clam…it thinks that the British Cycling should stick to two wheels”
Bloody hell. What a sorry saga. Muu, you have taken this very well. Jonny B, a clear and reasoned response. That’s why you’re the tops for track days.
To add to my week, food poisoning
Oh it’s going to be in the papers this weekend (the crash that is).
Which one?
Real shame muu…
I heard your car was a lovely example
