I’ve reviewed my footage again, can’t see any waved reds and have no recollection of seeing any either. I’m not driving like I’ve seen any flags.
Tim can be seen soon after turn-in at which point you have options. In my opinion the reason none of the other cars made contact but the Ginetta did, was down to driver error. He panicked and both tried to tighten his line and lift off, the car rotated to the point where he had exhausted available talent and was a passenger
All the opinion in the world won’t change the outcome though…but at least nobody was hurt.
Yea, getting better thanks… certainly wouldn’t have been in any state to drive on track yesterday… was still light headed and exhausted, very strange!
Very tempted to send him some twitter abuse… the screeches from the tyres seem to happen very soon before impact, which implies he hadn’t seen you until very late on through the corner.
Red flags called on the radio, could see em infront but as people say, non behind me where they needed to be.
Question I have is given the cheap modern tech these days, is patrolling the pit wall for transponders & stopwatches rather pointless and outmoded considering for less than a grand (less for an AIM solo) you can have GPS based dash with splits, laptimes and delta’s? Hell an iPhone will do it.
Jason Kenny. He’s a feckin liability out on track… A couple of weeks ago I watched the Ginetta races he was in at Oulton Park earlier this year - iirc he was involved in a number of incidents. If he want’s to smash himself/own car up so be it, but to have no respect for anyone else is beyond rephrension - even though he is from Bolton!
Car is safely at Steve Williams place - hats off to him there next day to collect and also to rockingham for storing the car and for the use of their crane to get it on the trailer.
Steve is going to get it up on a ramp, trays off and see whats going on. But we already know the rear clams now a cloud of (very itchy) dust and the fronts been pulled off it’s mounts on the N/S. I had a look before I left yesterday and the suspention shock top mount was ok, looks like the rim and upper wishbone took the brunt of it. Fingers crossed.
I did get to see his onboard footage, and it was a lot of lock applied and a lift that put him into a big spin, but i’m no expert. With the power of hindsight winding lock out and heading off the track behind me would have been easier and preferable.
He didn’t speak to me in the ambulance, probably because Jamie and I were pretty fired up and he came to rest alongside us - he knew he was in the wrong and apologised out of the window. Once back to medi centre we were kept apart.
I did make the comment that it’s already for him with an 18 wheeler and a team of guys to have it back together by the weekend - I don’t.
Great photos - “chip off the old block” & all that
Tim, suggest you do some “ferreting around” on t’internet to find footage of Mr Kenny in action He genuinely seems like a nice guy whenever I’ve seen him on telly (cycling stuff), so fingers crossed…
Tim, i have been having a think about any S2 bits I have knocking around. I have a front and rear passenger side hubs and am happy to let them go to you (a good home) FOC. They are brand new and never used. Yours may look OK but if they have taken a whack, you would be better off changing them.
If you want them, let me know where you want them sent.
