The harsh commercial reality I spoke of Tim is that TDO’s are not in a position to turn away racers and sustain a viable business…
Yep this really
T
Maybe there are too many TDO’s now? If people vote with their feet, the better ones will survive perhaps? I can’t see how some TDO’s will survive with a strategy that caters for anyone and doesn’t apply the rules rigorously.
I very much doubt I’d continue if insurers withdrew cover.
Its not racer tossers that are the problem…
Its bad driving and that could be someone driving any type of car
It just happens that poor Muu have been a victim of two bad driving incidents that happen to be race cars.
I must agree with Tim Marra a trackday should be for road cars which have mot’s insurance etc, race cars should have their own test day and not be allowed onto trackdays. We are also talking about safety here and then the cost factor of any damage caused.
As 6970k said a few posts back I have in car footage from a trackday two years ago, my son was sat in the passenger seat when a BTCC car came flying up the inside between a sharp left right uphill section at Knockhill, I spotted him in time to move over slightly god knows what would have happened if I hadn’t. Passing only by consent and on the straight my arse, he had full roll cage fire equipment I do not, timing and tyre monitoring was going on without trying to hide it too.Trackdays should be about having fun in safety what would the race peeps say if we turned up on race day with a road car.
Car don’t kill people, wrappers do. I saw it on a documentary on BBC two.
In all seriousness the racers want from a TD is orthogonal to joe public. When I’m out on track, my performance benchmark is relative - am I gaining or being dropped by Ben, and I know he has to pass the same slow runners in the same way as me. Once your performance becomes absolute, the clock or sustained performance for tyre testing etc, then you’re less willing to afford that novice a clean line through paddock hill bend.
I’d set the bar a bit higher if I were you dude
having smacked a beautiful car that I’d spent ages sorting I am feeling your pain. especially as it looked so good .(despite you dressing it up like a Volvo).
Jonny’s given BaT a glowing reference, but I’d like to say the same for LoT who have always been very proactive in getting rid of poorly behaving drivers. The last time i was out at Brands they got rid of a troublesome Frenchie (pardonez-moi, mon novelle amis Francais, ce n’est pas tu)
Just say no, just like Zammo
Bullet proof vest, to guns and aero
Glad you’ve not lost your sense of humour dude
Race cars don’t kill Trackdays, wankers do,
Ask any marshall and they’ll tell you its true,
Its a fact timing makes you violent,
Like motorsport vision telling little Timmy to be silent,
You don’t believe me? Heres my hype,
Offer me the paddock and i’ll show you the type,
Of cretin this track shit is breedin,
Its a fact that J Kenny left me bleedin,
Milner made my mother say ‘Fuck’,
If I stuck with go-karting then I woulda been in luck,
But I didn’t, and without a sponsor,
Forum massive told me to build a fucking monster,
So I started, I bought another car with AP Brake,
The Power by Honda made my cock and balls ache,
So remember kids from the armco double tap,
Cars don’t kill people, its just crap!
Race cars don’t kill trackdays, wankers do
Sound of the blower
Woo Woo Woo
Lol brilliant
I’ll have what you’re drinking
Genuinely and then a bit more
Fantastic dude, you can join me and Sean’s rap club
For those of you that don’t know their work, it’s a parody on the genius that bought us the track ‘Your Mother’s Got a Penis’ and ‘Your Girlfriend Is a Nutter’
You know it
You know it
You knows it
So a small update, car is back with uncle Steve and initial review is that it’s not pulled the wishbone mounts
Both n/s front wishbones are bent, and steering arm is free from the upright - energy has to go somewhere so I’m thankful these bolt on parts deformed. o/s rear toe link probably bent too as wheel is at funny angle. Tomorrow he’ll get it in the air and check for floor damage.
Anxiety has fallen slightly
That’s a bit of good news at least, gl with the rest of the assesment!
Sounds positive. Just a shame that the ‘add lightness’ mantra will no doubt carry through to your wallet…again.
211 wishbone time Tim?
maybe, maybe not, focus in on getting it sorted for easter
