Racers trying to WIN trackdays...

Don’t I just have all the luck!

Clio went for the pass on the cooper straight, and aggressively moved back onto line before actually getting past. I’d lifted and was indicating right to let him past at the time. Anyway shock to my front left broke the steering arm off the hub and I was a passenger from then on, glanced the armco before coming to a stop on the grass.

Anyway Steve Williams is picking the car up to see what the damage is, but in the meanwhile…

Scene:

Shit, hope there isn’t much damage :frowning:

Shit!

I have never been happy with TD organisers who allow testing on. That is what testing days are for.

Clio I dare say came off worst though, as the front was lost and both chassis legs are bent, rear axle has at least broken track rods and the shell has armco ridges out back and a tear to the skin. He slid a fair way further than me too.

Anyway, what’s done is done. There is no video on my car to review, and there is nothing to be gained from picking through the bones. Lets see if the tub is ok.

Oh and thanks to fellow exiger Adrian for the lift back into town.

On the plus side the car was flying before this happened.

Sorry Tim, what a nightmare buddy. Fingers cross for a quick recovery.

Seconded.

Hope all is well underneath and you get it sorted soon.

Dont you just!

Glad to hear your ok mate thats the main thing.

Dont like the look of the second picture with the front wheel sitting that far forward in its hole… Hope its not as bad as it looks.

Was the testing mentioned at the briefing or sooner?

I’d be asking some serious questions of the organiser and/or driver if not :imp:

Disgraceful IMHO. I hope it works out ok for you Tim.

That’s terrible Tim. Feel for you. Hope it’s not too bad underneath and you get it sorted quickly.

Yes although it does have a sheared off steering arm, so upper wishbone is doing nothing, and was dragged backwards into that place, so could be the upright leaning over. Steve Williams to have a poke early this week.

Cheers for the comments guys.

I think a letter to MSV is in order, as they guy in question had been reported to staff by others earlier in the day.

Given that this is copy taken from the MSV website:

There are 10 track days in the MSV calendar available, and 33 test days. If racers want to be ‘extravagant’ then go play with the big boys on the test days, the road car only trackdays exclude caterhams etc if trailered.

Given that the Clio Cup comes with a fancy pants logger, I dare say it had all kinda GPS timing up on the display. While the organisers are looking for stopwatches on the pitwall

Anyway, I think in future I’ll stick to either the (better run) silverstone days, BaT days and LoT days.

Glad your ok and hopefully the car will be fixed quickly

Gutted for you Tim, least you are ok and hope the car can be sorted as painlessly as possible.

Racers using track day as test day should really not be permitted. Recall few years ago a BTCC driver blatantly doing timing and dangerous overtaking

GpFisher will remember it well and has it on film.

Oh dear sorry to hear this at least your ok hope all gets sorted out quickly

You sound quite upbeat. Strong fellow. I’d be looking over Beachy Head. Shit awful luck and circumstances. Keep yer pecker up.

Beachy head … quadroaphenia…
now we’re talkin …
jokin aside , best wishes muu

Outragous Tim … Feel for you.
Hope all is fixed soon, all the best.

Tim, I really feel sorry for you.

That type of behavior is even more deviant than the last incident :frowning:

Whereas last time could have been their lack of observation this looks like excessively aggressive behavior.

I’m not so sure that driving competition cars on track days is the problem, it always comes back to the mindset of the person at the wheel. Maybe they have a budget problem, too much of it  personally speaking Ive always had a high value of preservation for myself and my cars! Maybe that’s why I’m not on the podium enough
