PRRT stat

so what is the difference between the part PCH001190 and PEL 500150?

The 500150 Superceeded the old kit because of what reasons? or is the diffence purely a part number change?

thanks,mitch

Excellent!

Nice and clear, I can get a 82oC PRT. Thanks for the info.

And just to clarify, this should fit (following details in this thread) a A/Ced VHPD in an Exige?

Ian

Certainly does.

The 1190 has the 88/89 deg stat bulb and the 500150 has the 82deg stat, ie the sat opens earlier. I was a mod to try and help continuing problems with Freelander introduced in june '05. MGTF however worked fine on the first 88deg version, - the temp being set there for maximum economy in the combustion process. Best power is given at 73deg, hence doing another stat.

Is the 500150 the kit with pipes etc, or is it just the termostat bulb? i want to establish if i need to cancel the first kit or just add on the 500150 bulb to my order you see.

thanks for all the great info. the AC boys have waited ages for this installation i think. i have anyway.

OK. Good to know, LR direct have already sent the 1190 kit to me so i have better send it back! Who will produce the themostats now that rover are no longer in business i wonder.

Simon - excellent info - thanks for helping us all out

I ordered the kit from > http://www.lrdirect.com/customer/search.php?substring=pch001190

I don’t seem to be able to find the PEL 500150 kit on their site?

Picked up my PEL500150 from the Landrover dealers today. It was 40.40 plus the VAT. Although its designated as only “Hose - Radiator” it does contain the full kit:

Was it packed in a sofa?!

Interested to hear how you get on Steve.

Do you need to get any other little bits or are you ready to slap it on?

Ian

Hi Steve,

Have you sized it up yet? Looks like it has an extra T piece compared with the old version on Carlos’ site (item “g”)? Any other differenes you can see other than the grey stat body?

Well spotted - item g on the original appears to be a a 90 degree elbow in the tube, but the new kit has a separate plastic 90 degree elbow. No problem there, except the plastic elbow also has an additional small takeoff pipe. I have no idea what this is for, or more importantly what to do with it!

Anyone got any ideas?

Ian - I’m giving it to Blink Motorsport to do whilst I’m playing in a Caterham at Oulton Park this weekend. Richard is going to source all the other small bits which are needed. Might need to add a bung to the kit now

It be great if you could let us know what all the other bits are? And if Blink wanted to bundle them up I’m sure I wouldn’t be the only one that would take a set off their hands.

Also, is your car A/c?

Ian

I’ll ask Richard at the weekend.

No

I’ll ask Richard at the weekend.

I’d be after a kit that covered an A/c.

Cheers, Ian

just seen the pics and I must admit I cannot get an obvious reason for that takeoff…
I have some ideas, but none seems really 100% satisfactory.
so, if anybody who has access to LR bulletins could give the manifacturer’s description, I will appreciate.
cheers
Carlo
PS: I’ll update my page with this new option, once I know a bit more about it!

at last my kit has arrived and after i find a couple of o-rings, surgery will commence. any news as to the reason for the extra spout on the corner elbow? So probably just close this off with a short piece of hose and a blanking pipe end. it will be like adding an appendix to the car. no point really but its there anyway.

although on second thought… the elbow does not look good for a smooth flow of coolant. maybe be better to replace the plastic elbow with a normal rubber elbow pipe.

your thoughts gents?
