Still adding lots of little parts to the car!!!
Nearly ready for a mapping session.
It already has a really good map in the ECU (Thanks Sean and John)
But I have a full tubular system so it needs recalibrating for that. Whilst at the r/road we are hopefully going to try these
Probably start with the 3.1’’ and work our way throught to the 2.8’’ (Depends on how long it all tkes really)
We want to look at boost pressures and intake temps to see which gives the best overall result.
Not necessatily looking for the best peak fiigures, but a good spead or torque without overloading the supercharger or charge cooler.
There is little piont spinning it faster and faster if all we are doing is creating heat…
Make sure you measure boost post charge cooler, and do not go over 10psi peak or you ring lands will be history
If you are going for a final map and not maps for selling or similar, then start with the 2.9" pulley, with the full 2bular system you should see peaks of 9psi as the exhaust works really well. you could try the 2.8" but I would suggest you are taking a big chance with breaking the ring lands, I have been running the 2.9" for 4 years with no engine issues.
If your charge cooler works as well as the pro alloy one you should expect to see ~270hp @ the hubs with the 2.9" mine will sustain those on the dyno with intake charge temps about 15 degrees above ambient. You should see about another 10hp ish using the 2.8" over the 2.9"
When does it go to the dyno?
Thanks Ade
I will hopefully go through the range of pullies as I would like to see/ measure the differences each one makes!!
But ultimately its the standard one and the 2.9 im interested in the most.
Rolling road is soon! Will let you all know if things go well…Simple really if they go as planned I will see you with the car at Anglesey. If it doesnt go well then it may just be me minus the car!!
Dave , I’d be very grateful if you could post AFR graphs up for the 2.8 + 2.9 pulleys
I found a bigger than anticipated difference between these two sizes as s/c speeds up exponentially the smaller the pulley…
That’s my theory anyhow !
Will see what we can do but…
I have no intention of running the car without recalibrating the maps for each pulley.
We may not get chance to go as far as the 2.8 anyway, Ill be happy if we can get the 2.9 working as it should
Actually I will be happy to just have the car finished and driveable, regardless of what pulley and power output!!
Aarrrgghhhh
Just finish for the evening trying to finish the car for Friday
The list is getting smaller at last!!!
Things to do are
Clutch foot rest to fit
Pass seat and belt
Fit roof seals
Fit roof final time
Set up windows
Fit inner door cards
Final geo check
Load on to trailer
Well the car was great at Anglesey and I thought when i was driving there ‘this is great the car is finished’ WRONG…
The car was really really good, but the modify bug has well and truely bitten me
So today I ordered a full FIA compliant rollcage…Safety first
Next will be seats and harnesses
Fire ext system
Then in no particualr order
315 front discs and bigger calipers (4 or 6 pot)
2 or 4 pot rears with 308mm discs
Rear diffuser
Bigger rear silencer (Jims exhaust is really nice but sadly to noisey)
Sequential gearbox, then add paddle shift etc etc etc
Last will be a low compession built engine with cams etc etc and more boost (Target towards 400hp)
All this before i even think carbontastic…
Blimey Jim, say what you mean!!! It’s like being on Seloc!!!
Dave and I had no expectations that his car would be track friendly, with any off the shelf silencer. The issue is that noisey days are becomeing scarcer and more expensive. We got rid of the cat, as neither of us like having a really hot thing, that has huge thermal mass compared to a decat, sitting under a glass fibre boot floor.
Im pretty sure that everyone agrees that your products are way up on the quality scale, but equally, you are way up on the UK location scale, so trying stuff if you need the car is a bit of a challenge. With what is planned for the car, there could be quite a few changes needed
Unless you’re up for a quieter and larger than current 8 inch silencer? There’s plenty of people out there that need one.
