New power upgrade for the exige S

Took it for a blast yesterday and it really flies with tc light flashing a lot. it wasnt slow before but now a real risk of loosing licence if not careful. Have you given yours some beans yet Andy?

Yes, its scary quick now. As you say it was not slow before but now it just seems to chew through gears. It also feels pretty brutal in gear, I still cannot believe the punch you get in third when you put your foot down.
It also feels really nice to short shift while pressing on, you can really pick up some speed even shifting at 4k.

Did a few base runs today for a reference when I get mine back…

40 - 100 in 4th gear was taking 9.8 seconds on average…Did about 6 runs , so , should be quite accurate…

Will check again after the work is complete…
C’N says that as a rule they don’t include a dyno run in the deal …May try and pursuade Paul to arrange it when I pick it up …

Base runs completed on an Airfield of course !! cough

It sounds crazy, I drove 240PP a little while ago and felt silly quick, so getting on 270bhp at the wheels has got to brutal, next year I think more will be in order for me

Not @ wheels … this is @ flywheel …

Oh, ok still crazy

If you want to feel 270hp+ at the wheels, you can go in mine, it is another step up and very addictive

That’s a very kind offer Ade one which I will take you up on if I bump into you at trackday sometime

He drives that slow you’ll have every chance

LOL

He drives that slow you’ll have every chance  [/quote]

I only drive slowly round corners

Slow in fast out, or should that be “flat” out

I’ll have to ask Jaq mate

Only if you are going to Anglesey, which you are not sadly :frowning:

Quick update on the warranty issue…had a call from Paul yesterday and Lotus will honour warranties providing an accusump kit is fitted at the same time as the rest of the gubbins.

a bit pointless for me tho as I’m back to plan A again and going down the Ade route of custom map, chargecooler, small pulley, etc…must have 300 horses, nothing less will do

Don’t forget the broken gearbox and destroyed clutch on your list :frowning:

Fetched my car back from Christopher Neil’s…

Couldn’t get a dyno slot today so power is not verified …
Paul drove it and was very very impressed (also dissappionted we couldn’t dyno it)

My impressions:

  1. Rock steady idle , improved over the 220 map.

  2. No “holes in the map” could be felt by me.

  3. Torque only slightly improved.(40 - 100 time in 4th only
0.5 seconds better…100 is reached at only 7000 rpm) so not the best test…

  4. Now for : "The Good Bit " … When the rpm passes 7k there is a manic howl and things happen very quickly… It’s very obvious that this is where the extra fuel is being squirted…The noise is just glorious , be quick to get the next gear cos it hits the limiter very quickly …
The old 220 map was very different to this …revs don’t climb too rapidly past 7k …

I,m well pleased…
Very good value too as I’ve got all my old bits returned to me …ECU included…

Now beginning to be a very quick car !!

Thats interesting, I would say mine feels a shed load faster right through the range, anything from 4k up its really obvious. However I know what you mean about after 7k as where the 220 dies off it now just keeps pulling.

Boothy

Rather than “keeps pulling” I would say “goes manic”

Great stuff, John, excellent service & result :sunglasses:

Seems you owe Mr Booth a noggin or two!
