New power upgrade for the exige S

Aye, mate - had a meeting in Birmingham at 9am this morning - M6 from Bolton area is always a nighmare!!

Sorry to drag an old post back up but to those of you who had the Christopher Neil 260 upgrades, how are the cars doing now?
Have the upgrades caused any issues now that the cars have covered a few miles?

I’m currently looking at a car with a CN260 upgrade and just wondered if there are any downsides to having this “upgrade” fitted.

Nope mine is still spot on, never missed a beat and I love it to bits. Much better than 220bhp.

Boothy

Not that I’ve had it done, but why is it referred to as the Christopher Neils 260 upgrade, rather than just a 260 upgrade done by Christopher Neils - a Main Lotus Dealer?

As I understand it its no different to having it done at the factory, in so much as they use all the same parts, and a new ecu? Is it because they used to re-flash the old ecu or something?

Am I wrong?

Great upgrade and no probs either.

As far as I know, Christopher Neals offered their own upgrade.
This consisted of upgraded injectors, a new higher capacity fuel pump and a new ECU.
After speaking to Lotus, Lotus agreed to honour existing warranties - making the CN upgrade “semi” official.

One difference is that CN’s would only enforce the bare minimum for the upgrade - at one time the factory wanted to you to do brakes, suspension and accusump which are all sensible options if you’re going from a std 220s car with all the standard crap bits

Because Chris Neils developed the kit on my car and proved it could be done without the 10k’s worth of bits Lotus wanted at the time.
Paul at Chris Neils also spent alot of time talking to Lotus and cleared that they could go to market with it as at first lotus were against them selling the kit, at first only Chris Neils had permission to sell the kit however over time this has changed as other dealers copied it and certain dealers cried to lotus.
AFAIK Chris Neils are still the only dealer doing a 260 upgrade for the older 220 cars.

Fair enough, it seems all the hardwork that Paul put in has earnt CNs the right to put their name to it. And given the components used, I can see no reason for anyone to question its validity as a semi official upgrade.

I might be tempted yet…

I went with the Komotec 280 from Hangar111 in the end - awesome for the money.

No probs with mine its a must have upgrade on the 220.

Bomber - if your car has the GT pack the upgrade makes perfect sense

Chris, it certainly does as I do have the GT pack  Unfortunately I didn’t have enough pennies in the piggy bank when I got the roof mod done, but I’ll give it serious thought when my next service is due in the spring. Just wish CN was a bit closer!
