Looking good
Looks like its all coming together mate.
Just waiting on the engine to be built and dyno’d so drawing up a couple of bracket options including new wing pylons. I need to get the clam strengthened also while the engine is being fitted.
Could you run it around for a while before dynoing J/F ?
The thought of sticking a brand new build straight on the dyno makes me shudder …
Not saying I’m right just thinking that the engine might be more reliable with a more gentle break in
It’s on a bench dyno at Track Club mate.
Running in the dyno is far more preferable to the road.
Could you control your driving style for 500+ miles, to achieve what can be done 100% in a room? No queues, 1 cold start, no long idling, no part throttle steady state motorway driving for 50 miles on a dyno.
You see this is why when I have a serious question I just ask you rather than post it on the forum
agreed, I’d much rather break an engine in on the dyno, engine cell or chassis, either way you have much more time to keep an eye on the engine.
Also configure exactly the break in strategy.
Apologies due …
I thought that the dyno was for a power run …
Having said all of that JFK, brand new or re-built piston aircraft engines are best run in at WOT!
I think ‘running in’ is a big hangover from the past when manufacturing tolerances were miles out compared with todays computer designed and built engines! When I spent a stint as a grease monkey working in a race car engine building business, everything was ‘blue printed’ and balanced, then assembled in a ‘clean room’… these high power V8 engines then went straight out on the track or to the car enthusiast with no run in procedure required.
All IMHO of course! I would also ‘feel’ better giving an engine a non stressed time for the first few hundred miles!
Nice topic…
I suppose every top notch engine builder has his preferred break in proceedure …
…
Pete , I suppose /know that piston aero engines have different requirements …ie . On a climb out the motor has to give max power for maybe 10 mins …
With ever richening atmo conditions .
Which is good btw

Borescoped, ok so far
Looking good. I thought you were simply using a rubber band?!?!
very cool, look forward to the dyno vid n graph - assume it’s being mapped in the engine cell too?
Yep, next week
Hi jonny, your car is really coming along now and is looking very smart.
Don’t no if you can remember but a bit back you told me you got your carbon speedo cover fom lm corse? Well I was going to order one but doesn’t look like they do them anymore. Do you no anywhere else that do them? And I was wanting one to replace the old one not just to stick over the top. Any help would be great full.
Rick
Cheers. I didn’t see it on his site either so emailed, try that Rick worked for me [email protected]
Thanks for that mate
