Can’t wait to get it built
looking forward to seeing this in the flesh
Mr fox just wanted to pick your brain:) when you sprayed your interior parts in gloss black, did you sand them down first? Or just spray straight on top.

What are you on about lol
I didn’t actually do it, the spray shop next door did. I understand there was a reaction of sorts so I’ll need to check when I’m back at work on the 6th. When it came to respray the top surround it was easy I just gave the gloss paint as slight key, primed and painted satin, not much help but hey-no! I think I payed 150 for all three bits of the middle section.
Ah rite, well I have done the speaker bits and the top dash part and yep it all reacted and went totally shit so spent the next couple of days sanding them back and redoing them. So I was going to attempt the centre heater part but was not sure to sand first but know you’ve said yours did the same looks like ill be sanding again.
Bugger! Lots of primer lol, post up the picks when you’re done
I will get some posted when I get me new steering wheel sorted, although its no way near as good as some of the motors on here.
JF has had “Carbonitise” for many years to allow him to need to take on this level of carbon fibre to meet his needs, be much harder next year as I’m sure his craving will be even worse and there will be very little more to buy
Looking really good John!
Tar buddy
Thank you John!
No stepped primary on this one, it being a track-oriented car spending most of its time at the top-end of the rev-range.
Still need the 4-2-1 layout though.
Can’t wait Jim thx mate, awesome as always
Just out of interest …
Have you shortened the primaries on this one at all Jim ?
I found the shallower bend angles definitely helped flow John. It’s a high-revving 16-valve motor plus the VVTI, so you don’t want too long a pipe. That said, I don’t recommend this one for a road car. The 2zz-ge has very poor torque so you’d need the stepped-primary for below 200bhp. Yamaha built a great big bike engine didn’t they? Was it Mr Honda who said “Why do I need torque when I have revs?” Hmmm.
There’s certainly been an increase in interest in N/A tuning recently. I made a few of these on spec around the time John told me his plans and they’re all sold!
Cheers Jim,I knew you’d have put a lot of thought into this one.
Really looking forwards to the results now!
Jonnyfox NA Rocks
Just before I crack on, I put the roof on today and cut holes in the clam for the roof fixings. Offered up the clam, propped up the back, taped behind the side scoops, gave it a wiggle and…it fits
Doors close fine as is, shut lines are great. Tomorrow I’ll start marking out where to put the Specialty Fastner fixings where the tape currently is, mock up some cardboard brackets to the side of the bulk head and cut out lights and external switch holes. I won’t cut out the holes for the Aero Catches until I get the brackets and pylons made. I’ll leave the fuel cap until I’ve found some bling to replace it with!
Need to figure out where to put the battery.
