Exige pre season updates, Does modifying ever stop??

So almost a year ago I was busy rushing around trying to get the car ready for Anglesey. I made it just.
So I thought this year I will be ready early! Hahahaha what a joke…
So the list of jobs to be done/ in progress are
Fit new pads and bleed brakes
Fit new tyres
Add additional cooling (Job from last year)
Change oil and filter
Sort out slight poor running over 6000rpm

Looking at the ECU data it would appear I have a fueling issue. Lambda is adding between 4-5% fuel but then at cam change (6000rpm) The Ecu goes into open loop and the fuel multiplier is turned off (as its programmed to do)
But, the knock control picks up detonation and retards the ignition by 3-6 degrees.

So Tank needs to come out to check fuel filters etc etc, I have also ordered a new set of injectors just in case!!!

Its all doable (I think) but Friday the 3rd is very very fast in its approach!!

Here are a couple of pictures of the additional cooling rad. It will be using the heater circuit, as the car no longer has a cabin heater!! At the same time I will endeavour to install a TRD thermostat. They are a total bitch to get at with the engine in the car. Really wish I had listened to gav last year when the engine was out!! Heyhoo

Keep the faith - when you’re pounding up the hill to Rocket it will have been worth it.

You are so right
cant wait for the squeal of the super charger, the whine of the straight cut gears and ooooooh that sequential change…Going back to the workshop right now!!!

LoL,

Go Dave!

Yeah…Coolant shower

Yeah looking forward to seeing and listeing to your car again Dave at Anglesey, last time I saw it was at Hethel during the LOT event. It was great seeing jonnyfox’s, Gav’s and yours.

Pete, I really miss that 2zz reving like a banshee to 9k…

Managed to get the thermostat changed today and pipe up the additional cooling radiator.
Still need to fill up and bleed the cooling system.
Brakes all checked and new PF front pads fitted. The ones I removed did all my track days last year 6 or 7 in total so really great value pads!!!
So impressed with them I will be adding them to the website when I get chance (Stock here already)
Also changed the brake fluid
So jobs left to do are
Remove fuel tank and check all the filters pump etc etc replacing as necessary
Poss install new injectors (If needed) new ones arrived in 2 days from America, very impressive delivery
Fill and bleed cooling system
Fill with engine oil
Refit front clam
Repack exhaust silencers (Again)
There must be something I’ve forgotten as the list is getting shorter

Almost finished!!
Just rear under tray and diffuser to fit, road test and add stickers/Seriouslylotus logo…

Well done Dave, I knew you’d make it!!

Didn’t last long though!!!
Can you spot what’s missing?

Ouch.

A posh elastic band? :open_mouth:

Doesn’t your engine have a lid on it Dave?

A pair of boobs?

Least of its troubles!!!

Its gone tits up if that’s what you mean?

What’s the full extent of it Dave, have you got the head off it yet. I hated undoing every bolt mate, feel for you.

No not yet
Cant decide what to do…
Options are
1 swop engine for a 14000 miler I have sat here
2 strip and repair broken engine with standard Toyota parts
3 Build an engine using forged pistons, steel rods, special cams, ported head and a Harrop 1320 charger
4 Do a Jonnyfox

Current thinking is do No 1 now, use car a bit whilst investigating/doing No 3
No 2 is OK but is a lot of work for not a great deal of gain
No 4 was very very tempting on Friday afternoon on the way home

The worrying thing is why the chain broke in the first place? This is where I intend to start my investigations with both my engine and whats been found by others out there
