Duratec Elise to Motorsport/Exige

It is true! I did 316km/h (gps) on a motorcycle multiple times, trying kneedowns with 300km/h on a highway in Luxembourg, but above 220km/h in the Lotus on a german highway…not my cup of tea

That’s so odd! I also found going fast on 1000cc bikes (autobahn of course) no big deal. 160mph+ was nothing. But I find it a bit “uncomfortable” going anywhere near those speeds in a car and I’m not sure why

Maybe it’s because I grew up riding bikes as a teenager and carried on doing so for over 35 years but didn’t get my car license until I was in my mid twenties.

Being trapped in a cage is one thing, being in there high speed is something else

Litre bikes are life. Next to rally driving, the best thing that can be done on wheels.

I fully understand you.

I started watching for one again. Perhaps next year but easy does it as I became a dad and all that.

Some progress

Subframe is back on and one side the wishbones and shock is back on.
Other side will be done soon as well, already on but cap for toe link needs to be mounted and all bolts need a turn with the torque wrench.

Ordered new aluminium 1.5mm thick for the bulkhead. That is on its way.

Hope to have the tank in before the aluminium comes. Need to pull back the entire loom.

Wishbones , toe link and shock on the other side done

Started on the wiring loom. First pull it back to the cabine as the ecu, fuses and relays will go on the bulkhead.

And done!

With the fuel tank out it was an easy job. Only lotus wiring that will return in the engine bay is for the rear lights. All the rest will be the Honda loom.

And as I have not yet decided if I put in a rollcage, part of the roll cover set in primer. 2k will go on once I have time to go in the garage again.

edit.

stupid pictures not working

Been to long

Fuel tank is in

Started to put the engine together.
Found a crack in the oil pan so instead of welding or buy a new one, I started to look for a better solution as I was missing a piece of protection and clockwise is developing it but not yet available. So bought a unit2fab oil pan.

Waiting for the new crank pulley so I can put everything together and throw the engine in.

Seem to be having a few issues with the images @Emiel

I have made a change to the system to not try and grab tweakers.net images and download them to this server

Thanks @andybond

Well last parts are in to get the engine in.

And last days started working on the rear bulkhead. Put a thicker and smaller rear window in with the hope to dampen some noise. Some light in the cabin and possibility to check engine bay if needed.
