Duratec Elise to Motorsport/Exige

It will also allow me to remove the handbrake mechanism from the cabin. Hopefully I can then also fit 2 tillet B6XL size seats without the middle console sitting in the way. So far only see positives… that might change lol

I think if you have the rolled edges cut off on the B6XL you can fit two . .

Sounds like a plan! And with removing the handbrake lever it should be even better. I really need an XL, my passengers sometimes (also with charity rides) and I really want 6 points as a rollcage is for next winter.

Another update

Mate welded an extra lowerbar to the rear lower wishbone as they are prone to bending. Especially with use of curbs on track

Also the toelink moved from
Subframe to lower arm

Sold my lotus bbk, 2 pots and handbrake calipers. Ordered 4 pots eliseparts calipers.
40/36 front and 36/34 rear. They arrived

Made some rear brackets for the exhaust and mounted it. Do need to cut a small part out of the subframe to make sure the heat transfer is minimal and not hitting the nimbus

Also visible is that cooling system is done. Made a quick bracket for oil filter and started the oil lines. Ordered some end caps to pressure test the oil and upcoming fuel lines

Car will be on its wheels next week to have the driveshafts measured up. Ordered them from stark (great service, really friendly) but i knew already fitment would be a challenge. Just need a few mm extra play.

New seal for supercharger as it started to leak in storage is in and new oil

And appointment will be made to make the exhaust from 421 into 41 so i can fit a cat for dutch mot.

Next year they will make a double rear repackable silencer/muffler for trackdays.

Some fantastic progress there

I really want to drive it in a couple of months…

Made the last oil line, number 3. Also in a Fireseal hose to prevent more heat in the engine bay and under the super charger/alternator etc. Still need to make brackets so that it does not touch anything but this is the best route for it. Much of clearance around brake line and cooling line.

Put the supercharger on to check some clearances. Plenty of room if I ever find a DC5 manifold

And looking on how I am going to route the fuel lines!

I always wondered why they were never like this from the factory? Seems like the obvious solution really.

I am not so sure if is actually better then original in regards of stability in toe changes. The subframe is a weak link so for longevity it might be beneficial and with shorter arm it might become more positive.

I want to try it but also forced as the 3” exhaust is in the way.

Need to start measuring the bump steer once all work is done.

Final install of the gear cables. At least, should be the last time! Really trying to finish things up now!

Getting the fuel lines sorted and pressure tested.

Shear panel back in, also having a nice view at the oilpan/sump and some other adjusted items

Nose seal failed on the JRSC and also the nose bearing making some sound so new seal and new bearings arrived. Need some time to get them in.

And tyding up everything below the supercharger, all hose clamps are on, wires connected, need to fabricate some spacers for the wires vs coolant hoses

Simon from Scott russel suprised me that he had LHD dash panels in stock! Good for the future LHD conversion

Looks seriously clean. Impressive build.

Thanks! Last time I will ever do an engine conversion haha

Some more progress

Bleeded the clutch! Working! Happy with that.

For the nose rebuild, Heated the oven for the nose itself, had the bearings in the freezer for a night and all of the sudden the JRSC nose was rebuild and filled with new oil.

Another test fit revealed the alternative routing of a coolant hose gave some issues and needed to be turned a bit. And also wrapped in a sleeve just for the peace of mind. Also some extra heat shield against the bulkhead and removing some material from the waterpump housing.

And then swearing a bit as it was tight with my hands… but..

Only downside is the nose brace will not fit. So need to look if I can resolve that or find a different one.

Some work to do but will first bleed the brakes, push the car outside, clean the garage, set ride height and measure the drive shafts as they have a 3 week turn around.

See if I can make the starter turn, the fuel pump prime and the ignition spark that if the drive shafts arrive I can start it for the first time.
