Chrome Orange S2 N/A Track Build

Hi Jack,

I recognize myself a little with what you say about power. Now, I haven’t driven mine on the track yet, but I think that when you get to know the car and have gotten the most out of the car on the track, you probably want more power.

I’m sitting thinking about which way to go for, NA vs. supercharing.

If I go for NA, I will probably go for K20/K24 as there is not much to gain from a 2zz.

Now I have some experience having seen both kits in action, the Boe REV400 and SSC.

The guy who sold me the Exigen sold it when his brother was getting rid of his. It is probably the most expensive S2 Exigen in Norway with Boe REV400 kit with standard internals and strengthened 2, 3 gears and final drive.(That just a few modifications on the car) The car have been running the kit for over 9 years now with out any problems!

I have tried it and the car is a bit of a monster! I can honestly say that it was a bit disappointing to drive my car after that trip.

The SSC kit should probably be the same as BOE, but that other car with the SSC had some problems with the ECU and mapping. A lot of it was due to an engine change and there the SSC ECU that comes with the kit had to be replaced with EMU black.

In terms of appearance, I would have gone for Boe’s kit as it looks more tidy and original in the engine compartment. The SSC kit has a slightly complicated layout for NA. But if you have a Exige S is much of the kit hidden behind the original intercooler.

SSC

Boe (not the actual car, since I don’t have pictures of the engine.

But here is a clip of the Exige with the BOE400 kit on track having fun with a Caterham R500

First time at Oulton Park yesterday and loved it, car was awesome

Great pics, looks like you are really pushing on.

Did you find the source of the noise during hard right turns (I remember you mentioning it previously)?

Was certainly giving it plenty.

And yes! Was my OSF tyre rubbing through the arch liner :joy:

Lastest update. I bought something.

Carbon canards. I likey. Bit more aero supposedly and the carbon matches the other exterior carbon.

Then took it to blyton again yesterday for abit of fun with a few mates, fun day and a couple of hairy moments but was a great day out!

@Jake Looks epic and you seem to be committed in some of those pics.

Is that why your rear lights look dirty?:wink::wink::wink:

Ahhh John!

Another name to the name :joy: I’ll give them a clean just for you!

Could someone help shed some light please?

I recently swapped my oem LED units for some GRP’s. But for some reason the indicators are flashing like there is a bulb out, not heard or seen this issue before on them. And they also didn’t on the previous car, any clues?

I do have LED side repeaters too but when I installed them a few months ago that didn’t cause a quick flash.

Jake, it’s weird as they worked fine on mine.

From your comments above, the only difference from your car with the GRP’s and mine with the GRP’s, is the LED side indicators. Could this be causing the problem?

Does this ring true?

I’m aware that LED’s in a none LED circuit would naturally cause resistance issues. But what doesn’t add up is that both my ‘extra’ changes individually work fine.

For example my side repeaters were plug and play no issue despite being LED, and the GRP ones in theory are plug and play, so both together should also equal the same outcome?

I guess the first step to do is to try a normal bulb in my side repeater and see what that does…

I’m pretty sure mine came from GRP with some module that needs to go into the wiring to prevent this. It’sa common issue when fitting LED’s, i can’t lay my hands on the instructions but I’m certain ebay etc probably sell the module I’m referring to (i don’t know its proper name) they’re not expensive.
Just looked it up, indicator flasher fast fix relay, you have to fit it under the dash

Probably a resistor of some sort. I just thought the bits that I’ve fit so far didn’t need one considering previous owner didn’t need one.

I’ll have a look into it! Cheers

When I installed my GRP lights I had to change the relay for the indicators for them to work correctly. The relay did come with the lights though.

Have a look at this Replacement of Elise/Exige flasher relay under dash (and 3 more identified) | The Lotus Cars Community

Thanks James, just looked at the link.

Did your relay look like this?

Can’t remember for certain as I fitted it a couple of years ago. Am quite certain the pin layout did however look similar to the one in the link you posted.

Car has been full on neglected from my last post. Not driven it at all until today where I hooned it round blyton.

Leaves me with some bits to sort/buy over winter period.

Wheel bearings
ECU
Fuel upgrades
Remap
Better suspension and setup

Lots of pennies but needs must. Going to slowly get prepared for a SC so might aswell get the fuel bits and ECU done first.

Opinions/advice welcome!

Unless you are balls deep in the car , sell it and buy a supercharged car already.

It make no financial sense , and some parts are tough to get hold of.

However, if you need a chat on how and why I have the tee shirt :+1:

Looking forward to seeing the build😉 What SC kit are you going for?

If you’re going to strap a charger on, why not go straight for TVS1320?
