I think you could get the bare parts, but I personally wouldnt stick in a “1 lady owner from new” engine in the car. It would have to have a refresh. These engines are not so young any longer.
The mapping argument still stands though, got to know a few BOE owners through my ECU shenanigans and many have moved to standalone away from the process of having BOE so remote tunes all the time
Speaking jobberish to me, I would have thought I’d have to get aftermarket ecu potentially. I’d charge this one but the chocolate gearbox and engine scares me, and ideally I’d want 300+ minimum as an end goal.
The k20 swap I’d happily put in stock for now, knowing down the line I can get higher power as and when.
If these 1.8’s are forged are they safe? I’ve heard loads of horror stories.
Thankyou yeah it was hooked up, just missing the grunt on the straights.
I’ve been doing abit of research and I think the MP62 can just about go to the 300bhp area with supporting mods like small pulley and uprated fuel pump/injectors. So instead of messing about with K20 that may be the best option.
I’d happily source the bits myself and do it but I’m just trying to find a definitive list of what I need, Hangar for example want £7k fitted but surely I can do it cheaper if sourced and some myself.
You’ll need to chargecool to make that power reliably as to run a small enough pulley means massive intake temps.
You’re a little bit at the mercy of H111, there’s a couple of Lotus specific bits to mount the generic charger to the 2ZZ and they’re hens teeth. I know H111 have a handful of those parts based on previous conversations with others evaluating this path.
Other option is a TVS1900 from SSC in Aus. Runs much cooler, so chargecooling can almost be considered optional. Much more modern blower and can do much more than 300bhp depending on how many gearbox swaps you want to do.
Honestly, I say this begrudgingly as a serial modifier but it’s cheaper just to sell the car and buy a SC one.
I’m pretty deep into this car and have an attachment on it, technically I could put it to standard and sell but there’s no fun in that, I like to do it as a journey!
I’ll look into both options, sounds like I need to compare the MP62 and TVS kit, might throw you some questions Andy nearer the time if that’s alright seeing as though you’ve done it, and if it can do more power than the MP62 then win win. Unless it’s silly money more than the MP62.
I know someone with the BOE Rev300 kit, brand new in its shipping box, sitting in his garage - he might part with it if you decide it’s something you’re interested in… he was going to charge his 111R (2006) but just hasn’t gotten around to it, and now I doubt he will? I’ll ask him if you’re interested and see what he says - just shout
