For centre console the gear knob and handbrake handle come off, crank handbrake as high as you can. Sometimes I even disconnect handbrake cable to let me crank it completely upright.
Rear bulkhead trim is a right pain with harness bar.
Speakers out, harness bar out, various trim clips out, there’s a foam “ceiling” piece in the rollbar cover which needs to come out, then the massive bulkhead plastic pulls out.
I never replaced mine till I sold the car as it made any work back there a total nightmare, adds loads of creaks and rattles so mine just went in the loft. I didn’t use the stereo anyway.
There is a cheating method to save you stripping out 98.7% of the interior to remove the belts.
Remove the clip on the seats.
Leave the actual belt top locator bolt in.
Utilise a tie wrap and wrap the buckle to the belt. It will stay in place then and its high enough / out of eye sight to not really be a problem.
I have tried to find some guidance on this. I can remove the harness bar from the inside can’t I? Once I’ve figured out how the speaker covers come off…
Tbh Andy I would rather have them out completely, and do away with the rear trims full stop. It’s a potential rattle anyway once I’ve messed about with it, and might aswell before the seats go back in. Was just hoping it wasn’t as in depth as what it now looks to be.
How can having the roof off be easier? Just for prising and getting behind?
Gonna have to do it in the dark as I need to get my seats in this week, does the bar come off by getting the speaker covers off first then speakers then hands in and bolts out?
I can’t get the passenger seat in as there is no rail to bolt them to. But tbh I’m thinking of sacking the drivers rail off too. Going to get some steel plates made up so I can bolt the brackets directly onto the plate and then straight to the floor so I can be sat lower, and also allows me to get the passenger seat in hopefully stress free.
Another hiccup was my harness side straps don’t reach the original seatbelt location, so I’ll have to drill some new holes into the plate I’ll get made.
Now drivers seat is in, harness bolted in and ready to go! Had to modify the brackets abit and then bolted the side harness to the bottom of the brackets.
Few pics from first track day of the year at blyton. Happy with the car. Need to sort my ABS as I currently don’t have it and a weird rubbing/knocking noise when taking fast hard lefts.
Oh and I need to fob off my oem seat rails with these Tilletts because my driving position was horrific and unadjustable.
