[quote=Boothy]Cheers Neil,
Where did you get the 304mm AP’s from and which spacer kit do you need?
I have been told the hoses can be done but its a swine…
Pete, rads done and so is my stainless tow eye

I got the discs and larger bolts/spacers from Eliseparts.
Neil.
Cheers Neil, So we think the 304mm’s would be better than getting 295’s? They are currently almost the same price on elise parts.
Any down sides?
Boothy
EDIT looking again thats just the disks, I’ll probably go 295 this time then.
I saw the Disc brake Australia 5000 series on the RLS website then saw Motorsport world do them in the UK (288mm and 296mm) and was wondering if anyone had any experience. Are they as good as/better than AP? the price is pretty comparable so can our antipodean cousins make brake discs as well as us…

Depends where you look for prices!!! Retail list on the 308mm AP rota is about 220.00 each!! The 304 Ive seen listed at 535 + vat a pair (ouch)
Cant give a define price on a disc and bell kit as I’m still awaiting the bells!!
But 308mm rota with Fixed alloy bells and bolts expected to be 575-650 +vat.
Yes the 295 are available but again will have to find prices as it was not my intention to go down that route.
Very interested!
Likewise
The Nitron bells are very expensive (over 400 +VAT) they are the floating type. I’ll be impressed if you can get the lot in for that price.
I’m going to speak to Ollie at PMS tomorrow as he buys some belled disks (not sure on the type).
Other than that it looks like 295 AP bell’s to keep the cost down and move to 304’s/308’s later.
are you sure you need em?
im all for upgrades. …but…brakes?
one of the areas that lotus got right from the drawing board. .ok…maybe try pads and fluid etc.
not an area of concern for me tbh. .

Nitron FIXED bells and 308mm rota’s at 575-650 ish, will offer the best floating bells as an upgrade

Just had the calculator out!!!

ps Floating nitron bells normally 480.00 plus vat and discs 450 (pair) plus vat(1093inc)
Anyone tried CL6 brake pads? Are they as good as PF’s or RS 14’s
I’ve just put the car on stands to check everything over after Anglesey and the rear pads (PF’s)are waffer thin. So are the discs, which easily explains why the wheels are completely fouled with baked on non-removable cack.
I’m a bit suprised that they’ve only lasted 3 track days, 2 short rallies and very little road use. I’m sure I got better wear from RS14’s on my S1.
It’s also strange how little the fronts have worn in the same period as they were new all round at the same time. Do others find that normal for the rears to wear much quicker than the fronts?
And no I wasn’t driving round with the handbrake on.
Are the rear calipers not sticking or something? You should not go through rears quicker than the fronts.
On the CL’s people seem to rate the 5+'s higher than the 6’s.
I might be getting my hands on some new to the market pads and giving them a try.
Boothy
Not heard of the same issue, I suspect you might have a problem with sticky rear calipers. My fronts so far wear out about twice as fast as rears.

Unlike me last year at Snett in the factory GT4 car - Doh!!
Guys, I’ll soon have these new pads coming in from Italy. They will be available in 2 compounds - Carbon (road/occasional track) and Carbon RR Metallic (fast road/track). I have ran the Carbon RR ones racing at Cadwell Park a month ago in the Elise Trophy and was very impressed indeed - no fade and good modulation… Ill be running them on the race cars from now on.
Pm me if your interested in a set when they come in (i promise you wont be disappointed) price will be about 100 for the carbon RR and 75 for the Carbon. Will also be getting them in soon in sizes for the big brake kit, keep you informed.
Thanks Gav
Is that for a full set Gav?

What? am I missing something? Its a similar price to Mintex for a full set.
