Not sure about an upgraded master cylinder for the S2 - my friends looking into this on his. I think Chris Randall was looking into options for his Europa - might be worth giving hoffmans a shout. It works fine without, but the pedal feel will be spongy in comparison.
Good quality pads, I personally hate RS14’s, but if you arent having problems, you arent getting them hot enough. They basically melt and the gooo sticks to your disks.
Braided hoses and good quality fluid are a must.
Then go for bigger calipers, if nothing else they look really cool!!! Ive just put 6 pots on the front of mine and 4 pots on the back!!
As has been mentioned though, you need to use a correctly sized master cylinder!!!
Some interesting differences of opinion on here.
My 2p’s worth is.
The bigger the [color:#FF0000]DRINKS the better.
Good quality [color:#FF0000]beer, I personally hate [color:#FF0000]Ruddles, but if you arent having problems, you arent getting enough [color:#FF0000]down.

Would I need a new one? I am guessing the PP kit should be sized to fit my car as AFAIK the PP cars have the same master cylinder and do not suffer from a sponge bob square pants pedal.
So far I think I am swinging for the PP kit, I think the bigger calipers and disks should make up for the slightly inferior pads (I can upgrade later).
I dont want to spend 1k on AP 290 disks and find that as N17VES says my brakes are hardly any better than before.
I would probably not notice progression if it hit me in the face, a boat anchor, thats me. Wham your stopping.
Don’t know why asked the question in the first place, Boothy.
YOU WANT to fit 4 pot calipers (no matter what anyone else thinks), so just friggin do it, & stop procrastinating, man!
Won’t improve your track driving anymore than fitting braided hoses, decent discs & new pads, but what the hell?
Re-reading your original post, all you’ve to done to date with the brakes is fit RS14s on the front, yet you’re thinking about going the “whole hog” in one go - sorry, but I just don’t understand…

Calm down dad
I have not made my mind up which is the best way to go and thats why I asked the question The Lotus PP kit comes with the braded hoses pads et al but obviously the pads and the disks are not up to the quality of sticking with two pots on AP rotors and CL pads.
I realise neither will improve my track driving but my front RS14’s are getting near the knuckle and so are my front disks. The disks are also starting to crack which I am a little wary of, so the things need changing anyway.
I am a firm believer if you buy cheap you buy twice so I don’t see the point of putting EBC disks on as I am probably just wasting money.
So hence the question, if I go the AP route will I end up wishing I went four pot after sticking a grand at it? Or will that be more than good enough for my needs?
Because if I go the starter 4 pot route at some point I’ll end up throwing money at better pads and disks which is more money again.

I was going to try this over the winter, how much are the brackets I am really interested in try this out, mostly because the handbrake calipers flex like they are made of chocolate and you get very weird disc and pads wear
Another $h1t Lotus product then? They’re not meant to be used to arrest 301BHP
To me the fact that the Lotus Pro drivers use two pots says it all, they could fit anything and they chose the 2 pots, a mate of mine who has done a lot of racing over the years, had a 240R when they first came out and his only brake upgrade was to fit bigger discs and space the 2 pots out to fit and braided lines of course, I think you can go 304mm disc with the standard calliper.
I’ve had very little experience of the 4 pot but I did test drive a 240PP and to me the 4 pots felt over powered the pedal felt more like a switch, it was a dry day and I managed to get ABS to kick in slowing down after a burst of excellration on an empty dual carraigeway which obviously due to my input, but i’d never had it happen before.
My vote is 2POT Big discs
I am getting by ok with 2pots, standard discs Pagid RS4-2s Braided hoses and Castrol SRF fluid, My thinking for ultimate future proofing would be to go to AP Discs 304mm front (Elise parts 8mm spacer) and 290mm rear when my current discs wear out. Then if you want to go for 4 pots at a later stage I beleive you have the correct size discs…
This is my new thinking, I have been told about some new pads that my friend is going to try and scource in elise sizes (does anyone know the correct codes or applications?).
And I am going to go for AP disks, May go 308mm I am not sure yet.
Mikey how have you found the braided hoses? did they make a difference? Did the clam have to come off to fit them?
Andy, I’ve got the two piece AP304mm discs with CL RC5+ and they are fab. No fade on track and great feel cold or hot! I’ll be adding braided hoses and new fluid once there is the need for the front clam to come off.
The braided hoses and fluid firmed up the pedal feel and I never get any fade on track. Eventually they do start to grumble but they remain fade free. CN fitted the braided hoses and I think they have a way of doing it without taking the clam off as the labour wasn’t in the clam off region…
