Back to Western Australia (via Sydney) in a Exige! 5000km!

Love the colour Softy, what is it ?
I am thinking “Bordeaux Red” and very unusual if it is
Almost as unusual as Autumn Gold :sunglasses:

What a road trip, fantastic…keep it coming

I need to crack on and get my car on the road

The colour is Canyon red.

Range is really good, can get 500km to a tank although didn’t need too. That was not sparing the horses.

Meet two retired couples flying from Perth to Soth Australia. And not flying in the normal sense. These are like toy model aeroplanes that have a maximum lift weight of 600kg total. The one plane was a kit and took over a 1000 rivets.

This is real adventure, 160km cruising speed, wecwere doing that on the ground!

They only do about 450km a day, so why they had landed at Cocklebiddy.

Heading out to hit the road once more.

On route to kalgoorlie.

But first we have the 90 mile straight!

After the 90 mile straight they is a few corners then baladonia, another road house.

Then back to the first town in Western Australia, Norseman.

Just after Norseman the road passes the edge of a massive salt lake.

Heading north now to Kalgoorlie, the gold capital of Western Australia.

There was many mine shafts on the golden mile just outside Kalgoorlie, but the owners found it increasing difficult to return a profit, so eventually they combined the different mines into one and called the new company KCGM, (kalgoorlie consolidated gold mine) and then changed the mining technique to open pit. The new mine is one huge hole over 4.5km long. It is now know as the superpit.

Stayed the night in Kalgoorlie, and only 590km from home now.

So in the morning an early start to be back early in the afternoon.

Stopped at Southern cross to check out the “birds”

Those birds are not my type so on the road again.

Australia has a lot of introduced species that have caused havoc.

One of these is the little cuddly rabbits. As these had no natural predators, they bred, becoming a pest and classed as vermon.
To prevent the Rabbits crossing the country into Western Australian agricultural land, fences were built to stop these rabbits. These fences were of significant length and had to prevent the rabbits burrowing underneath.

The fences have now gone as rabbits are controlled by specific viruses that only attack these species. For many years rabbits could not be kept as pets.

Below is a site just east of Merridian where the fence ran through.

Just a few hundred clicks to go, nearly home…
