It was dark as we were aproaching the Barrosa Valley. Driving at night is always a concern due to kangaroos on the roads and being active at night. It is common to hit kangaroos in country Australia. People that do considerable country driving have “roo bars” fitted to the front of the car. No such thing for a Loti!!
Turned off the Sturt hwy into the Barrosa and headed for Lyndoch where our accomadation was an old converted church.
It was nice to unpack and have a new home for a couple of days in the premier wine region in Australia.
Whilst in the Barrosa Valley we went to;
Maggie beer farm (special gourmet food produce)

Saturday market in Agnaston Barrosa Valley
Maggie beer had many conserves, vinegars, icecreams, cured meats and wines. I had two icecreams and a coffees.
The markets were fantastic, local people selling their wares of organic and healthy produce. Spent all Saturday morning here. The market over looked a vinyard with windmills in the background to reduce frost in the winter which damages the grapes
Sunday came around just to fast and this meant time to head home.
To keep the trip interesting we headed north to Port Augusta (tip of the Southern ocean inlet) but through the Clare Valley (another wine region). We stopped for breakfast in a small town called Aubin. The resturant was a fantastic surprise! The food was top self and of gourmet quality, very very nice.
As we got closer to Port Augusta we had to cross the Flinders ranges onto the coast. Some photos of us looking down into the inlet and back towards the ranges.
The car is excellent and for some unknown reason it rides better than my elise ever did. Strange… even though my elise had LSS and I changed it to quantums zeros. The only thing I can put it down to is the tyres. These are Kumhos KU37s, whilst my elise had yokohamas which come standard with the car.
But I am not complaining. The sports exhaust is to loud and SSC is sending a standard one. The engine does hesitate for a slight moment sometimes, but it is really quick.
After refueling at Port Augusta, we headed over the Eyre peninsula. The roads are now starting to get a little baron. My GF starts pushing hitting speeds of 150km.
Rolled into Ceduna just as the sun was setting. Another 800km under the belt.
At nudroo roadhouse we meet four bikies. There are on their own adventure, riding to the west by road then returning to the east via the interior roads which are all dirt.
Had water fuel and all their belonging on the bikes.
As you leave the Nullabour Roadhouse the road vias closer to the coast. This part of the coast line is called the Great Australian bight. Why because it is like the Southern ocean took a bite out of Australia. Sheer cliffs of up to 40metres drop straight down into the ocean.
It is a marvel to view. Here are some pics I took from a lookout.

Note: all of these roadhouses don’t have reticulated power, water or sewage. They have rain tanks, diesel generators and self sewage systems. They are to isolated to be connected to any utility run services.

So the fuel range on the S2 is fine on this route or are you carrying a jerry can? Your drive makes my weekend adventure to through Slovakia and Poland seem like a mini mart trip May have done slightly more than your 150 speed though (I don’t miss Oz for that!)
