Very nice , all looks top quality , what coating is that on the subframe , is it zinc ?
Dave, I asked the question over in the S1 section how many KG’s the Honda engine adds over the K, I didn’t get an answer, not even from they who should not be named !? What approx power and weight are you looking at buddy?
Lol I just want to get a handle on what I’m looking at head to head (not literally, I’ll be giving Gav the keys and a cushion if that comes to pass )

Well! at Oulton judging by my pax ride, his NA was a fair bit faster with a passenger than my 240pp without. I guestimate similar to my current model around 900kg and 260BHP.
Not withstanding the fact it was ten times faster on the bends.

70 kg heavier I think!
Your new machine will be v v quick mate! Have NO doubts!
Pete re K Series v Honda weight - 70kgs is bollox. Suggest you do some research on posts by Scuffers comparing complete cars not engines!
Will be interesting to get it back on the scales… I imagine I’ll have lost a bit of weight with the wishbones/uprights/wheels and perhaps a few kilos from the bulkhead.
Before it weighed in at 773kgs with the tank on refill and no passenger seat… with 217bhp or thereabouts at the hubs.
Hoping the RBC might give me close to 10bhp if I’m lucky.
mmmmmmmm, lovely strong subframe you have there
(moomin, its a bright zinc passivate)
Dave what spherical bearings have you gone for in the outside of the front wishbones? I used to have the Lotus Motorsport Sphericals all round and it totally buggared up the steering. I went back to standard outers on the front after that.
seriously doubt its 70KG as mine tips the scales at 808KG (22L in tank) and there is no way it was any less that 760 before.
I thought the Honda added at least half a tonne!?!?!? But at least the side to side weight balance with no passenger on board is evened out, by all of the spare drive shafts you have to carry!!
HAHA
Only joking
On the train home, had no food and just swigged half a Gin and Tonic. Got a bit of a buzz on!!
It’s the Eliseparts T45 wishbones/bearings mate, so I’m pretty confident with them, they have been running on plenty of cars now over the last few years.
Are they the wishbones that have been braking on loads of LOT cars???
Don’t know any details of those, but if it’s production cars it can’t be as they have to run standard bushes don’t they ?
Mine are the ones that the Oz boys run, the Motionsport guys run and Jamie runs.
Sean, they’ve been to hell and back on my car for the last 3 years and are still like new. No signs of fracturing and all the bearings have zero play. They don’t cock up the steering either. The outer sphericals are super-duper top secret 35mm NMB items. (They should be good for 50 a piece anyway!!!)
Cool. Like I said, I wasn’t pointing any fingers, just saying I had read and seen pictures of a number of after market wishbones that had failed.
Always interested to hear bud… any idea where the pics are?
Looking good Dave
Not much original on my old motor
One of te failures was on the Motionsport car, I’m sure. Anyway, like has been said, I am sure they are all sorted now.
Yup, we had a top front right wishbone fail at Barca 24 hr last year. I haven’t heard of any others to be fair. Ours broke at the welds at high speed.
Bear in mind that when Jamie says his have been to hell and back, ours have a daily season pass to the inner circle of hades!! they done some 300 + hours of balls out endurance racing and had yet to be lifed. We now have a lifing point for them
Our car runs full EP suspension and its very good. Nothing else on the market I’d use if we started again. Only other issue we had is that when replacing all of our wishbones (lifing as above) it turned out that the spare lower rears were different (toe link pick up points) and wouldn’t fit. Fortunately we didn’t need them trackside and Geary got them sorted for us.
Cheers,
Simon, Motionsport
Good to hear Simon.
Unlucky in Australia… car seemed to be on for a great result until the Merc incident… hope everyone was ok and the car isn’t too bad !!
