2013 Eliseparts Time Attack S1 Exige

Read on seloc that engine is dead :frowning:

Shoite

Fucksticks

Sorry to let you down guys. We don’t know what went wrong with the engine. Fine on the dyno and then problems after a couple of laps.

Sorry to read that Jamie. I don’t doub’t that you must be a bit gutted, but I hope you realise that having some issues takes nothing away from all the amazing effort you’ve put into this car and you’ve not let anyone down!

:frowning: hope it is an easy fix…

Keep the faith Jamie, the car’s had a lot of development very very recently. It was a bloody miracle you got the car there at all if you ask me. I’m sure that the next few weeks will see the car back and even stronger than before before the next round…

Sorry Jamie, mamouth effort so far and I’m sure there’s more to come. Get it done fella, everyone’s routing for you.

Sorry to hear you had problems Jamie. As others have said, keep the faith!!

Spot on …

Had a drive over to Cadwell yesterday to see you run but by the time i got there after practice you must have had problems and i didnt see you out on track , hope the cars ok !
Liam was also having problems with the blue MMG VX in the club class .

Turns out it’s just a head gasket. Phew!!!

Great news matey.

Great news !!

Good news Jamie!!

That is good news, a cheapish fix then

I suppose that depends on why it failed. Fingers crossed nothing is too warped!!

It failed because of too much boost/head lift when our 44mm Tial MVR wastegate wasn’t man enough to control the boost. This engine is an absolute animal and just makes the most huge amount of boost at any virtually any rpm. We are now going to experiment with a different wastegate setup and either run an additional wastegate the same as we already have or one much bigger one. We may also try and slightly change the manifold design so that excess gases are scavenged from all cylinders and not just the two that are on the same side as the collector as the current wastegate.

Sounds good Jamie. Do you use an uprated head gasket and an alternative to standard head bolts to hold it all together?

You will be going old school F1 spec. next and having the head cast as part of the block!!

Yep Sean, we use a cometic 3 layer head gasket. There aren’t any other options really as we’ve bored the block out from 86mm to 89mm. i.e we can’t use any standard Honda gaskets.

Standard head bolts at the moment as we like keeping things standard. If we have problems though we do have ARP studs or could re-tap for S200 bolts or something similar. Should all be fine when we have the boost under control anyway, but we’ll just have to see.
