Working with some VX220 SC owners with approx same power output as you’re looking for - think we’ll need that 3-chamber silencer.

Meant to add comment about the Zircotec coating - nothing else comes close to the quality/longevity. I remember Ade’s Zircotec blue(!) 4-1 looking as good as new after dyno/track use.
It won’t affect the stainless manifold at all - it doesn’t add any bhp though!
If you use hi-quality packing materials inside the silencer, the extra heat won’t bother it. On an SC, it’s the gas-speed that’s the killer.

Yes it did, just a bit of a different shade of blue where it had got hottest, I love the stuff and will always use it now, and I liked the blue so much I had it again :wink:

Earlier there was a comment about coating the outside or the inside as well? What have people had done? Can they do the inside?

I was thinking of getting the bend after the cat done in this. There seemed to be enough shielding over/around the manifold. Any big pluses about doing that as well ( the colour doesn’t interset me-sorry)


Edit- have read whole thread now but decided to leave above as I have no problems in appearing an arse, particularly on the lesser S1 forum! (awaits bun fight)
More specifically , the area that appears the fire hazard (in the S2) is the U bend after the CAT as it runs close to the clam. There are al manner of shields over the manifold as is and i don’t think I’m too worried about the clam in this area. As mentioned, there’s only so much transfer of heat you could want to go to the box before that too becomes a problem.

I have not run any heat shielding on that u bend for 5 years and never had a problem, I have had my manifold done as it runs so close to the boot area and I have no shield on the 2bular manifold, most don’t bother though…

No shielding on my 2bular 4-2-1 manifold, 3 years, no problem
U bend and clamp just painted with UHT satin black, 3 years, no problem
