WTB: Exige S2 2 way Ohlins

All good then, excellent!

Ohlins Rock :sunglasses:

All good once I get those numbers confirmed!

Thatā€™s what I meant lol

What is the cost in changing the damper mounts on the car to 2-11 spec. That is probably cheaper than having the dampers changed isnt it Gav, or are there other things to consider?

Steering arms and top suspension arms at the front.
about ĆÆĀæĀ½940 plus vat!!

ouch

do you really need to spend the money on the steering arms? donā€™t you only need them if you are going to run the car super low? Canā€™t you use the 2-11 damper at a front ride height of about 105-110 which is where my car is on Nitrons and Iā€™ve not cangd the top arms?

I was just about to say the most expensive bit of the 2-11 kit is the steering control arms (ĆÆĀæĀ½300 each!). Im sure someone could knock some up for far cheaper! (dave?)

The 2-11 front upper wishbones are around ĆÆĀæĀ½150 each, you also will need the 2-11 front upper mounts which are ĆÆĀæĀ½25 each iirc and a set of rack raiser plates which are a couple of quid each.

Surprised more people havent gone this route tbh as you can lower an S2 elise/exige down to at 105 at the front without rubbing (thats on the cup springs).

Ade, thats all well being at 105 with the std wishbones but have you looked at the upper front balljoint through its full motion of travel at that ride height??

The factory wont set the car any lower than 120 at the front due to the ball joint anglesā€¦

Thye changed the design for a very good reason!

Yeah Ade you should check that out.

Iā€™ve got the 211 upper wishbones on my S1, for the super lowness they allow, without locking out the ball joint.

You can yes, but the 2-11 steering arms are machined not forged and reduce the bump steer when lowering the car. They basically put the TRE into the correct position in relation to the rack, this recudes bump steer when lowered without the need to move the rack with riser plates. (well it has on my car when i did the bump steer checks)

Ok, now I am interested (re my other thread: my car is with John) so if I am getting nitron rose joints fitted, getting 2-11 top wishbones would be a very wise investment?
As I am already that low the wishbones and the joints ~ĆÆĀæĀ½400 seem to be a good investment, Iā€™ll get John to make sure the rack riser plates were installed when the nitrons were first fitted, but I just canā€™t justify the ĆÆĀæĀ½600 for the steering arms at the moment, maybe an upgrade for another day.

Closer to solving the riddle! Aurok being very helpfulā€¦

Specs are:

Front
Damper: LOV1J533
Spring: 00180-44/57 (180mm length / 44mm dia / 57Nm rate or 325 lbs)

Rear
Damper: LOV4J533
Spring: 00281-31/74 (281mm length / 31mm dia / 74Nm or 422 lbs rate)

No idea on the damper codes but waiting to hear back from Ohlins / Aurok.

Spring rates looks exactly like Lotus Sport spec  See last pageā€¦

you still looking for a set of very low mileage ohlins?

All sorted now mate!

My mate has 2-11 ohlins on his s2 exige running standard wishbones. He just runs a lowā€™ish ride height. It was only a tad lower than I have mine set with the nitrons to be fair.

The only problem with running low ride heights with the exige is the front splitter (and a nice bit of wear on the back of the lights). I use to be able to run a lot lower ride heights on my vx220.

I gave all the info to Aurok and the ones ive bought from Carl are longer than Exige ones, so they need shorter shaftsā€¦ Not too hard for them to modify but will be around ĆÆĀæĀ½400 all in.

These Ohlins are a minefield. Someone should have a list of all the part numbers that were specd on the Exige and 211!

Do you know where i can get these from? Thanks!

Speak to Russ at Mick Gardner Racing 01226 240099 he should have them on his shelf.

Tbh your better off speaking to Russ anyway regards lotus specs. He is the factory approved Ohlins supplier and has provided all the sets fro themfor everything they do and can tell you the details from his own records (currently working in the TTX for the cup v6ā€™s)

Much appreciated, TT!

I will give them a call.

The dampers have gone to Aurok already so not sure if they can supply them.

Hopefully they know their stuff and can modify themmto Exige S2 fitment!
