Exige Cup 260 and std 2-11 have the exact same spring rates and valving as each other (80f/105r), only difference being the overall length. 2-11 rides heights range from 90-120mm, where as the Exige is 120mm min (by the book).
Hey i may be completely wrong im only going off the picture, just ask for them to be measured.
if they are 2-11 dampers im sure your man will come to some agreement on the price with you for some new end eyes. Which if these are band new then…
Lotus Sport have a sale on atm of the std 2-11 dampers at 1600+vat to put it in comparison. (they were 2200+vat at least iirc)
just going off the pic they should also have a set of 8 bespoke spacers which packs out the top end eye in the damper mount on the chassis (2 for each damper) which arent there. They are 8-10 a pop (again iirc). youll have to check.
I hope carlpcross will do the honourable thing and refund the money or come to an agreement based on a refurb to exige spec.
I hope it wasn’t the reason why he hadn’t fitted them in the first place as he surely would have read through previous posts in this thread prior to uploading the picture.
The spring rating is printed on the side in Nm. It is the last 2/3 numerical digits of the code iirc.
I must admit i was under the impression that all the sets junks had for sale new were for 2-11. But i could be wrong as he was aking me what he had at one point…
What do the fronts measure Carl just out of interest? The measurements i gave are all for std spec lotus ohlins however there have been a few odd ball sets made up which can slightly vary (2-11 gt4, exige gt3 etc.)
Tbh it wouldnt bother me at all if they were 2-11 so long as the price is right, you can easily get them to work on the exige. Or do as i have done with all my cars and buy the rest of the 2-11 parts to go with the dampers…
Thanks again. I just want the Lotus spec ones as they are what i’ve had before, and I like the spring and damping rates. The car will mostly be used on the road with a couple of track days, so raod comfort is important. 260 CUP spec will no doubt be too firm for me.
Reworking them is ok, but obviously there’s a cost. If it ends up being springs, valving and extended ends it becomes complicated!
With the spring rates I should be able to decide if these are ok for me
I’m running a set of 36mm ohlins on my Sport160 with the cup260/2-11 settings and they are great, even for road use! I would try and get a go with them or ask a few cup car owners their views before dimissing it as ‘too much’. I have sold a few sets on here to people and recommended the cup settings and had no complaints back. Its they way I would go as the settings are compliant yet still give the car the feel it should, then when you take in on track they are just as good again!
I got some ohlins off gav a while ago and he recomended the 260cup setting and they are fine on the road, infact i would say brilliant
wouldn’t of thought you would regret it but everyone is different i suppose
i can vouch for carl being innocent too i have been trying for ages to get him to put them on but he has been wanting to switch to the dark side of the evora for a while now
