A funny thing happened to me this weekend: I just had my new carbon body and suspension mods fitted to the GT3 and wanted to take the car out for a shakedown and set up session before 2x1hr enduro races at Eastern Creek Raceway next weekend. As it turned out, the track was booked for a World Time Attack Challenge this weekend with a number of big-time international cars (Sierra Sierra Evo, Sun Evo, Cusco WRX, PanSpeed RX7 etc etc) and drivers (Emperingham, Tarzan Yamada) turning up for the event. so what do you do? we entered the Time Attack event as a last ditch effort to dial the car in before next week’s big race.
We threw in a mate of mine, V8 Supercar driver, Warren Luff in the car to have a crack, just to see how the car was behaving. This is the first time the guy’s been in the car for 2 years, it’s set up for a one hour GT race, it’s never run on R Spec tyres before, and the engine has done 12 hours of racing…and he finishes his first session in 6th position outright. so we all get really excited, tune in a bit more boost and ends up blitzing a field of 80 cars to finish 4th outright just behind some mega-expensive, purpose-built Japanese Superweapons.
Here’s how Luffy scored his fastest time and nailed the trophy for fastest 2WD car.

Fantastic
Good luck for the rest of the season
Ang…brillant. Love your car
Awesome lap, he was properly committed!!!
Love sequential gearboxes, they just turn awesome cars into mind blowing ones!!!
Got an email last night from a mate in Sydney who went to see it - I pointed out your GT3 when I was at the Creek on holiday in mid year - he couldn’t get over how well the car went!
Well done & good luck for the coming sessions!
Mark
Well committed, nice slide just after a minute and that gearbox is great, how much power is it running?
thanks for the comments guys. Luffy is a gun…
the engine was pushing over 600bhp for that event!

what engine is in it?
Great result Angelo, very very well done… with a bit of tuning and tweaking you might be able to take it to the really big guns
I hear you’ve been invited to compete in Japan?
Really nice lap there and the car obviously goes very well!! Do you have any pics to share with us?

it’s a locally developed 1.8L 2ZZGE turbo.
sure…
Luuurvely, in fact, far too nice!!
Where is frank when you need him, 600hp that is awesome out of a 1.8 well done
Looks fantastic, Ang - much better than that silly orange & black colour scheme you ran last year!
Ang is too afraid to really turn up the boost…not enough hangin down under I guess…
sure…

Awesome!! Thanks looks really good and a 600hp 2zz-ge to boot. Frank you have competition on the engine front now.
Where do you think he got the idea… Ang is a bud…
So Frank what modifcations do you do to get to those power levels exactly? Since we are talking Group B rally power/cc how is the lag with a turbo installation?
I have no lag since I’m runnin a compound charge setup…{Lancia Delta S4] have a look at the new European Car magazine…
