what cars have you owned

It was an SJ410, which I “personally” imported in 1983, cos there was then a quota restriction on Jap manufacturers selling directly to the UK.

Weren’t they put together in Spain by Santana and ended up with a plate that had LandRover stamped on it?

Plus more I cant remember

I wondered when you’d chip in with your amazing past/present collection, Clive

Anyway, enough of that, more importantly, how’s the lovely Tricia keeping? I’m still gutted that you made sure we didn’t meet up in Le Mans

  • Thinking about it, it may have been 1984, not 1983.

Probably not, 1984 would have got you a SJ413, unless you imported from Santana, who made the SJ410 up until early 1985; although in 1983 Suzuki introduced a slightly longer wheel base SJ410 (another 13.5 inches)… I said I had an unhealthy interest in them .

Sensational, next best thing to a motorbike, you have to sit in one to fully appreciate the experience. I’m from Manchester, meet up sometime if you want.
Unfortunately, being a real petrolhead, I also really like the Exige as well, so thats goin to be my next car in my garage to keep my Atom company

Very few in comparision to others…

Cars…

Vauxhall Astra 1.8 SRI in white (nice ‘n’ rice)

Rover MGFvvc in brg (dont ask, p.o.s!)

Audi TT 180 in black (solid car, couldn’t knock it really and sold it just at the right time)

1988 Porsche 928 S4 Sport SE ( I found it lurking in a barn and bought for a couple of grand. Turns out to be one of only 42 ‘Sport SE’ cars to be made and 1 of only 5 of them in silver. 5ltr V8, manual 5sp dog-leg box (all other S4’s were auto’s), sports exhaust (sounded gorgus, 5ltr how could it not??), uprted sussies, different cams, reflashed ecu with higher rev limit, lsd from 959, mag wheels etc. etc. I spent 1500 doing it up for it MOT, put about 2,000 miles on the clock and sold it on for a 4k profit…Bargain!!! The car was fantastic and I would have kept it were it not for the fact it was going to be a bottomless money pit, sold it while the going was good.

  • Audi RS4 in Nogaro Blue (Keeping this one til it blows)

  • S2 Exige in Chrome Orange ( )

  • 2 x Birel Race Karts (Rotax Max)

Motor bikes

[censored] loads of feild bikes (anything we could get our hands on as kids)

Maco 490 2 stroke (what a beast!!)

Honda CR125 for m/cross (got out of it as quickly as I got into it, those guys are nuts!!)

for the road…

Suzuki TS50 (with an 80 big bore kit and racing reeds and fartbox exhaust, as you do at 16!!)

Suzuki 125 gamma (with all the crap you attach when your 17!!)

Honda chicken chaser 90 in blue with grandada fairings (50 mph everywhere )

Kwak ZXR400 (fit me perfectly)

No more bikes I dont think, perhaps a chopper with a big thumping v-twin may get me back on one though

Exige plus an Atom sounds an interesting combination.

Had a passenger ride in an Atom at Rockingham. The seating position seemed a little strange at first (in was the single moulding for both seats) and perhaps the setup was off as it drove like a bit of a dog (it was a track hire car) - can’t believe it was a good example. I do like the styling.

I think that was the car a customer of ours crashed (at Rockingham)!

But do they ever handle? I’ve never heard good reports.

Ian

I got a pax lap in one last year around oulton in the hands of an ex f/ford driver… Have never been round there so quick (I aslo picked up some very nice lines to work at :wink).
