Were the FIA right ?

I must say I was somewhat shocked when I learned of their decision, how anyone even someone as stupendously sharp as Michael can engineer an accident within the space of a corner is rather beyond me; I cant help but feel that their reaction was somewhat overzealous ah well, should make for a hell of a race: Schumi starting from the back, with Coulthard in 7th (with Fisichellas pen as well as Michaels).

Im getting Goosebumps already

Seen this type of thing plenty before in karting…

It happens all the time when racing, usually on the last corner of the last lap when pushing for position. The guy infront will dab the brakes half way round the corner cauaisng you to nudge into him or having to apply the brakes hard, he then just pisses off over thge finish line!!

not very sporting but I cant see it as cheating either…

Looked fishy to me but quit suprised they actually did anything to him. He normally gets away with murder!

biggest problem with this decision is that the championship is now practically alonso’s on plate… I doubt anyone can realistically keep in touch even if he has a couple of DNF’s… which is pretty unlikely. I’ll be very surprised if Ferrari get any points today… every chance Renault will get 18

Not that I dislike Alonso (quite the opposite actually) - but I don’t like it being this easy or having the prospect of no-one really competing for the championship… shame really.

Lets hope Webber wins today…

Will also probably make Schui’s decision about staying as a Driver that much easier.

I must say today was a ‘big tick in my life book’. Motorexpo in the morning, with a mad rush cross country just (and I mean just) in time to catch the start of what was an excellent race, roll on Silverstone

Yes

Were the FIA right ?

Yes

Only partly - he should ahve been excluded from the whole race. You just had to see how sheepish he was in the post qualy interviews to see it was no accident. Jackie Stewart got it exactly right today and it casts a huge shadow over his not inconsiderable achievements.

Mmmmm …

People forget the incidents Senna got up to to win at all costs I guess Well maybe not Prost

No…we were just talking about Schummi…

Maybe we are, but if there were more drivers that try it on it would be better for the sport. Senna and Schumacher were and are arrogant, they raced and race to win. A grid full of a**eholes would make great racing and would be very entertaining.

Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the commentary team. Get rid of that cock

I 2nd that. (hope you mean JA)

I don’t understand the James Allen backlash, he seems ok to me. Anyone care to enlighten me

Tim.

He’s a wet blanket. (Like D.C) They should have a break away GP series for girls, JA can talk rubbish and DC can be the only driver. Bet DC will make a good excuse why he didn’t finish. (I know he got a 3rd but the track was only 36mm wider than the car)

Ok, so hes no Murray Walker, and some of his commentary may be a bit, dry, but you try talking about the same subject for an hour and a half especially when you consider some of the epically boring races that we have seen in the last couple of years.

Really I dont think hes bad at all. Ive watched F1 on TV all around Europe, and, frankly, we should consider ourselves pretty lucky, our commentary and coverage easily surpasses that of the rest of the continent, except for Italy that is, they rock, and, even though my Italian isnt that hot, I love watching F1 there, the commentators are great, well informed and uber enthusiastic. Anyway, back to the subject, leave the guy alone; there are much, much worse people that blight our TV screens than James Allen

Oh, and what do you have against DC, he may not be the most exciting racer (JPM for example), but hes about the most successful guy on the grid (after Schumacher of course), and someone who has provided much excitement, and a focal point for many British fans over the years.

Have I missed something

Yes, probably

I must have, when I watch a GP I want to hear from someone that knows and has been there. Not someone that hears stuff around the paddock then gets it all mixed up ie cock or Mr Walker. MB is what you want more of, he has something to offer. (JPM can’t control his aggression, no good)

I recall a few of his (JA) comments quoted on sniffpetrol. Certainly no worse than the previous guy (MW). Given all the info he must get during a race to make sense of & pass on, he doesn’t do so bad IMHO. Especially compared with the utter $h!te you get with football.

As for the pundits Brundell, Hunt(RIP), Watson et all, their job is different to the commentator, whether its to give a different view, correct errors, or add a drivers opinion. MB is great at it, but probably wouldn’t be quite the same if he were in the hot seat.
