Weight of Toyota S2 Exige please?

Which is 975Kg…frank has 500bhp?

So you have a power to weight ration above a Bugatti Veyron

Slightly less, but its negligible.
It is about .73 KG per litre at 68 deg F

Aviation fuel is a bit lighter at .72 KG per litre…

Thats why I use JET A-1 in my car
It’s good to be King…oh that’s 500+RWHP.
Lotus quote 935Kg for a stock Exige S without options.

Lotus quote 895Kg for a stock Exige NA without options.

That’s a 40Kg difference for the supercharger. Doesn’t fuel weigh ~1Kg per litre?
Not necessarily all the supercharger though. Wasn’t the S released about the time of a few other changes too. I doubt the LED’s weigh much  but new pedal box (which was lighter IIRC?) and start of use of that new sound deadening material they found. They certainly seem less rattly than earlier n/a’s.

KingT?

Mel Brooks…

History of the world part 1

Classic movie

Noooo…
Jet A-1 is kerosene based Ie.diesel…(for Jet engines)

If you must… then put in “avgas” Thats near as damn it petrol but better!!

Wow thats better than I thought, I was bothered about getting mine checked for fear of more piss taking, I might risk it now

Thanks for that - exaclty my model and I though it might be circa 950.

I have full GT3 decat system + panel eliminator so might be even less.

OFF TOPIC: Are you please with Nitrons? Which ones did you go for, I m toying with it…

thx

I have Nitrons, I would speak to Nitron if u are buying. They will sort out settings to ur requirements and currently fit for free. Imho dont get the hofmanns spec ones unless u only track the car.

The main reason I haven’t gone for it yet is divergent opinions some saying they aren’t great for road use, others raving about them, and the plethora of choices…

Thx for the advice mate. Yep, had several long chats wih Guy, and wont be going down the Hoffman route…

Anyway, we will see the results soon… but sure to be very impressed…

Nice group of people to deal with.

Yes Guy is great, they are going to re build my Hofmann spec dampers so that they are a better road damper but can be adjusted for track use when needed.

Speak to Guy, I am sure they can build you a damper thats good on road as well as track, they are currently working some new standard settings for the NTR’s.

Andy

OK speaking what I have suspected for some time…

The Hoffman spec is too highly sprung. It is not allowing the damper to do its job or the damper isn’t capable. It feels great to the newbee to track work as its stiff as heck and makes the car feel like a ‘race car’ but a race car isn’t stiff as heck, it’s adjustable to the needs of the circuit and driver.

Sorry but this is not just my opinion. I’ve had some very experienced race engineers look into this.

That is also what Steve Gugleimi has been saying.

I am quite ‘excited’ talking to Guy, … he has suggested this ‘new route’ gathering info form quite a few expert sources.

I am looking fwd to what magic can be weaved on the ‘humble’ Elise!!!.. power is not everythng… (I am going to need all the help I can get!!!)

From what I gather the damper is to highly sprung and due to the reduced rebound rate is unable to fully control the spring unless it is set very stiff.
The problem this creates is either a very stiff on road ride or problems with bouncing if you soften the damping.
Nitron are currently working on new standard settings as Pete says.

It’s a shame that Randy is banned from here so can’t contribute his point of view.

I run Hofmann’s dampers as do a few others on here and in fairness to Randy :

 • He makes sure you want a track/race setup before spec’ing 550/700 springs. I think sometimes people say, yep hardcore that’s what I want without realising that in effect you’re pushing the road/track compromise even further in favour of track.

 • I don’t think the damper/spring characteristics were arrived at by accident.

 • Randy and guys running his spec dampers do account for the lions share of race wins in the Elise Trophy (Randy, Ben Pitch, Paul Quinn etc) and Randy before that with Scuffers.

 • As with anything else there is plenty of opportunity to try all the various mods at trackdays and through forums such as these and then individuals have to make their own mind up.

Well said Ben. Anyone who thinks/says that Randy doesn’t know his stuff is talking bollox (meant in a nice way). This season he’s done a fantastic job on his Europa - his performance at Silverstone in the GT Cup was awesome.

However, it doesn’t surprise me that his kit is not “road friendly”, but you pays your money…
