Weight of Toyota S2 Exige please?

[quote=lotusgray]Have you seen this one Pete?

thats been for sale from when i started looking, late august at a guess, probably number of owners mentioned above would be a good reason for why!

Wooden Blocks as he is short!

Seriously, that is most interesting and indeed if possible, open up a lot more choice!!!

Looking at PH’s, about 1 month ago there were some very nice N/A cars with good spec that all sold for circa 18K!

Lovely sub 20K miles blue one with PP, Scroths and the ultra lightweels included too!

Out of interest what is the problem with a car that has had relitivly high number of owners??

If it is in good condition and has all the right stamps in the book and receipts etc, surely its still the same car?

I have found that a lot of “second” type cars like the Exige are sometimes bought on a whim and then when they are either not used, or the owner realises how impractical they are compared with your average hatch back etc, they sell them on quite quickly.

I don’t really know!!! I dont think it is necessairly a ‘problem’…

Suffice to say, I have always wondered about the ‘rent a car’ syndrome!!! if a car is bought and then then owner soon gets ‘bored’…

I reckon that most peeps on here have Exiges for all the right reasons… and that MObil 1 is running thru their veins! I would guess also that most would have bought their cars as ‘keepers’ and look and drive them accordingly!

But then again I am an Ozzy! (good match eh!)

my thoughts - hard enough to find a decent car thats been well looked after with a few owners, you can usually tell quite eaily if its been loved or not. Chances of all 8 owners being mechanically sympathetic and getting everything done are slimmer. Also “might” signify something else, eg inherent faults that have caused owners to get rid of it. The car can only be 5 years old at most so 8 owners with an average of 8.5 months each is a lot even for a fun car all imho!

What fault so bad makes for 8 owners?

I suppose the other way to look at it is that the first thing I do as an new owner/seller is fix any problems the previous owner might have left so after 7 owners you’d expect any niggles to have been sorted out.
I’ve also driven 04 cars without any dead travel on the pedal and have noticed that mine reduces a fair amount on the insertion of new pads so it’s probably just down to pedal adjustment.

Reckon my Katana setup is around 900Kg with a full tank (forged wheels, sports exhaust & cat).

The high number of owners thing is a bit mis-leading. I know of plenty people who bought and sold within months.

The bills start to creap up around 50k miles. I needed a new clutch, steering rack, set of suspension bushes, toe-links and a Nitron suspension refresh. Not too bad given its driven everyday and been taken on track several times. The car is mechanically sound although has usual stone chippings which I’m waiting to get done at a later date.

ie twisted chassis causing wayward geometry/poor handling etc. Not necessarily be known until its taken in to be checked and when geometry checked ok etc its investigated further? Just a guess of the top of my head and not in anyway linked to the car mentioned. Also owners might not be a problem if everything checks out ok but you would expect a high owner car to be cheaper which i don’t feel this is. Also Doesn’t have to have happened from first owner could have been third and its had five owners in last 18 months, which would worry me more but I don’t know without more details.

900kg with a full tank and a SC

mmmmm

I stripped every thing out of mine, had the lightest exhaust, race battery, no speakers, no stereo, lightweight wheels. non touring pack car.
Ally bell disk all round,no rear trim, and some other bits I forget and with 3/4 full tank it was 870Kg’s

which is what Lotus state standard lol.

I was anal and weighed every thing and saved 45Kg over standard.

So do the sum of the parts in addition to what I have done equal half a tank approx 45kg? Saw 901kg with my own eyes, it is the weight. I would think it would be what 915kg with fill tank so about bang on with the weight estimate of yours.

Not making sense to me either I’m with MrD06…how heavy is a supercharger and all its kit anyway???

Ive taken most if not all and slightly more here and there out of my NA and with half a tank it was 889kg. You know I think the issue with weight is down to the half tank scenario…we should weigh them full!

That’s a very good point, sir! As long as the tanks are the same, then if they’re full, they are full! Whereas it’s damned hard to know how much there is in a part filled tank, given the accuracy of the fuel gauge!

PS Let’s fill & empty a few glasses on Weds night!

Lol just the one for me now :frowning:

I had my 240 Cup car corner weighted recently and it was 910kg’s with a couple of litres of fuel.

It has the rear cage and AC, etc…

Sean

Lotus quote 935Kg for a stock Exige S without options.

Lotus quote 895Kg for a stock Exige NA without options.

That’s a 40Kg difference for the supercharger. Doesn’t fuel weigh ~1Kg per litre?

More…if it’s “leaded”

Slightly less, but its negligible.

It is about .73 KG per litre at 68 deg F

Aviation fuel is a bit lighter at .72 KG per litre…

Thats why I use JET A-1 in my car

2150 lbs. with a full tank… Who wants a boney limp wristed power starved Exige ?

Add muscle weight…kickin sand on others is fun…
