Good news…i hope the F1 car will be more competitive in the coming season

Anybody now thinking about a Renault engine in their Exige ?

Generate around the same BHP per litre as the Yota units and a lot more torquey’s

Who will the drivers be?

Looks like a total shambles. What about the team lotus name?

Has Danny and co given up on that, & will we see two Lotus teams next year?

Yeah a turbo engine out of one of those 250bhp megannes would be good with a bit more boost!

Marc!!! Got one in stock??

I doubt it is as compact or strong as an audi lump though.

Trulli and Kovo again but I would accept the testers job

They are with Lotus Racing/Team Lotus & not the ‘Factory’ Lotus/Renault team

thats right so the current renault drivers likely to take the seats unger the group lotus and renault deal
kuby and oh oh petrov
im so glad that group lotus has chosen to properly come back into f1 and it gets rid of all the stupid naming rights
next year it will mean that the lotus car on the grid is actually a derirative of lotus cars for real

No wonder group Lotus were going headlong after the getting rights to the names back…

Umm, maybe not. Team & ‘Factory’ Lotus were always separate entities, with Mr Chapman & some use of Hethel being the only common denominators. Off hand I don’t recall when the last Team Lotus of the 90’s gave up using Ketteringham Hall (the base for Team Lotus for many years since the 70’s). Perhaps it was when they folded?

Mr Fernandes has wanted & now evidently bought the Team Lotus rights from David Hunt, who secured it after Lotus folded in 94. This is the Chapman F1 team rights/history/company ownership. Group weren’t interested in buying it when they had the chance, under GM ownership, as they had massive corporate losses at the time.

I think this latest effort by Bahar is a mess. The powers that be in Malaysia could have sorted this out properly to have one Lotus in F1 & the other building road cars a long time ago, but sadly not.

It’s a shame that the man at (HICOM) Proton behind the purchase of Lotus died in a helicopter accident shortly after the deal was completed, as he was a massive Lotus fan, & would probably not have let this happen. But that’s another story:-

Tan Sri Yahaya Ahmad

:frowning:

quite, it all has been a mess to be honest
black and gold livery is back!
lets see what they can do

lmao, give me a month and i’ll sort one

Black and Gold livery on both Lotus Teams though?! I am not a fan of how Group Lotus has battled with Lotus Racing, and to be honest I would have seen more sense in them joining the same team but hey that would be too simple an answer. Sounds like there will be a battle of Lotus on track in 2011 then; Lotus Renault GP vs Team Lotus. The latest is that Team Lotus are thinking of sticking with the Green and Yellow!

Recent twitter comments from Tony Fernandes:

Dany bahr has done us a favour. Never felt better about our future and Team Lotus. Looks like the trying to hijak our black and gold idea.

Lotus Drivers Club News

does that mean that there shall be two lotus teams in F1 now, Lotus PLC and Lotus racing?

interesting as Team Lotus have a deal to use the renault engine as well? Wonder how that will affect things?

just looked on the f1 website and only one Lotus team is listed and thats Lotus Renault, and there is also a Renault team, so whats going on … anyone in the know to let us know?

See this thread for more info…
Lotus Racing Thread

It’s all gone quiet at Hingham… Perhaps there will an announcement soon.

By the Way… The official Formula 1 web site said this at the bottom of its press release on the subject of Lotus-Renault…

“Lotus Racing, Tony Fernandes Malaysian-backed squad that returned the Lotus name to Formula One under license this season, will continue to compete next year, switching from Cosworth to Renault power. The 2011 championship entry list published by the FIA last week listed them under the team name of Team Lotus.”

So, at least we know what Bernie thinks and he usually gets his way.
