Wanted - Race Technology Dash 2

Boody Hell!!! John in clear and simple description shocker!!!

Ah but mine has some lovely bespoke labels made by Wayne for those !!!

I had mine fitted before Spa and the extra data you get is great - especially if you link up a Smartycam.

Well worth the cash IMHO.

The strada dash (mine) is around 800 plus the fittings etc plus the Smartycam. It does all the usual readings plus a selected few from the comprehensive options list
It also does basic lap timing (steady now Mr P) but no data logging. I get all that via the Smartycam.
Sean’s got the pista dash which is exactly the same except it’s got 8mb of internal memory for logging which can be downloaded later

So the choices for me were non logging dash with Smartycam for around 1600 or the stand alone logging dash but no camera for 1600

All plus vat plus expert fitting at JSR. They’ve done 2 S2’s now and it really is a neat install

Done a few more than 2 matey. Fair few S1’s as well. It’s a nice dash for sure. The software is also very easy to use.

Plus when you come back for other work, you sometimes get new surprise features!!

Love my dash2…

Very tempted by one of these for my S1, any pics John?

Doh!!!

We have 3 on S1’s at work - 2 at the bodyshop and 1 in a million pieces. The one picture I do have, I cant post, as the greeting on the screen is on, and, well, its not appropriate!!!

Will fit up the 3rd one tomorrow, but will look a little strange as the rest of the car is not there and it wont light up as currently no loom in it. Does look good though

I assume you can get these to work on the honda cars too??

I might have to get you to do this sometime next year if you can…after I’ve recovered from paying for my sequential gearbox!!

I did say 2 S2’s Mr Bicknell - S1’s - pah !!!

Ouch!! That sounds like a loooonnnggg recovery period!

You can get them to work on the Honda’s, its just a bit more akward, depending on your ECU. From memory, all the US and JDM ecu’s have the right drivers in them to send info to the dash, european ones dont, so you have to go with individual sensors for each channel, or swap ecu’s. I think the Dash 2 may have resolved this with a small box full of magic and wizards!

The only ballache on my honda’d S1 was the wheel speed sensor, just couldn’t resolve it even with the box of tricks from race tech so Darren ground the teeth off the ABS ring taking it from 42 teeth to 4 teeth.

No, I looked at this to get data to my DL1 John and you still need the PRC ECU with the serial out possability … you MAY be able use the OBD2 output as race tecnology do an OBD2 adaptor but tales of slow data and stuff put me off trying.

yeah you need a yank ECU (PRC I think, uk is PRA) to get CAN out of a Hondata ECU

PRA does have K-Line out (OBDII) but yeah not sure on the speed of the readings.

Damnit, AndyD runs a digital dash in his Honda doesn’t he? Is that an AIM Andy? If so did you have to get a PRC ECU?

Are there any problems running a PRC with UK engine?

Andy runs an SPA dash in his honda if my memory serves.

the aim dash do look the nuts,
anyone got any vids of them in action?

Sean is correct SPA dash in the Honda and a DASH2 in the Audi …

Dave, what data do you want on your dash ?

RPM is seperate of ECU
Water temp can be tapped into or you usually have a seperate sensor any how from the ECU one
Road speed can be a PITA - I run a new sensor
Fuel level is simple as its just a variable voltage
Oil temp and pressure are not from ECU so stand alone anyhow
Fuel pressure is a standalone sensor
Throttle position - you could tap the TPS and get a signal for a dash as its a variable voltage etc etc

Try this

I’ve got some great footage from Spa which shows the Smartycam overlaid data from the dash which is pretty cool

I think most with a PRA ECU run the dash standalone, however you can adapt a UK PRA loom to work with a PRC ECU, you’ll need to add a wideband O2 and move some pin about. http://www.hondata.com/techk20-ctr-o2wiring.html

Good question, thinking about it I’d probably want :

Rpm
Speed
Oil temp
Oil pressure
Water temp
Indicators, lights
Fuel level
Handbrake warning?
Ignition lights

What do you use for speed sensor if not the original CV teeth?
