I am mulling doing an ‘inhouse’ power upgrade…

I am mulling doing an ‘inhouse’ power upgrade…
I knew it wouldn’t be long !!
I am in Canada at the moment for another 2/12 weeks and have a fair bit of ‘mulling’ time on my hands!
I Cannot quite see how CN’s etc charge so much for a power ‘upgrade’ . Bigger fuel pump, larger injector’s and re-programmed/replacement ECU.
Emerald supply, fit, programme AND bespoke tune on a RR set-up a K series for about 1K… Almost wonder if an Emerald will run a Toyota!
Would just like to get the TB butterfly opening fully mate! CANNOT believe the 220s has it partly closed at WOT! Feel cheated! I dont want to go the full hog as you have done, but 240ish would be nice… and keep the gearbox safe and reliable too!
Just drive it faster - no need to increase power
You let me off!!!..
I need to hit apex’s too!
CN’s are pretty cheap for what you get, the 440 injectors are over 400 a set, you have to buy a new ecu at 550ish and the upgraded fuel pump at 200 ish. Add in your fitting time and bobs your auntie.
Now if you were talking about a company charging 1200 for a flash and cheaper injectors I could understand.

Thats my point mate… the above adds up to 1050 and CN’s are now charging 2k! Dont you think 950 for labour basically nothing too complex or time consuming to fit is a bit steep… or am I missing something!

Please order an up rated gearbox for Mr Suren - its only a matter of time Pete before you go the whole horse power hog
I have a set of 440’s but they will be no good to you if you are going down the CN path, they are RC’s so have a different spray pattern etc, they will only work with the Gotham tune.

Sorry I forgot to add the extra for the 260 flash which is 400-500, Sadly its the only way to do it with our dash.
There is around 400 labour involved iirc. Have you spoken to Paul? Its far better to speak to them and ask whats involved and where the prices come from than make up your mind through forum chat.
Even at 2k its not bad bang for buck bhp wise and you get all your old bits back so you can either sell on or take it off and sell separate if you sell the car. I bet the stand alone that is on its way will be the best part of a grand, plus injectors, plus pump, plus mapping and shazam your at 2k again and unless your planning gearbox mods you cannot really go any further.

Just to add about the service @ CN …
A short while after mine was back home it developed a problem .
CN promptly fetched the car back on a trailer ,replaced the faulty injector ,rolling roaded the car and brought it back to my door ,again on a trailer …TOP SERVICE
Part of the cost must be apportioned to R&D and warrantying their work.
I’m sure you can " go it alone " maybe saving a few quid ,but, bear in mind that if you do …you will be on your own !
PS . They also investigated my water induced misfire and cured it FREE OF CHARGE.
Which was something that a well known Bromsgrove Lotus Specialist was unable to do !!
MarkyB had the Gotham tune Pete and he put a fitting thread up on here about 2 years ago. He said it was excellent and less than 2k I think.

Got an OE in stock - just been checked and rebuilt with a couple of new standard bits.
Shall I put your name on it Pete?

I know they are very good and have an excellent reputation.
Paul has been great with the info too.

Pete I am with you there, that’s why I bought the trailer.
Just need to make sure that when it does go bang, I don’t have an S2 on it
When did you sneak off and take that!
That’s a VERY embarrassing photo!!!

No sneaking off Pete, I had to join a queue of S1 owners photographing the moment for posterity

Pete - unless your’e as good a tuner as a 1) Pilot 2) Driver I’d get CN’s to do the power upgrade or that might become a regular picture
Chris,
Yep, on balance I think you are right… (except my driving is totally NOT up to the level of my flying!)
Off to CN’s it will be then…
… but only after I have learnt how to hit every bloody apex!
And that wont be next year either!
