VW vs Porsche vs Range Raver Sport

I have just bought a Touareg, it’s a V6 245 R-Line 3 month old ex demo with 840 miles on the clock. It has air suspension, Nappa Leather, 12 way adjustable seats, auto tow bar, black metallic and memory seats inc passenger. All this on top of Nav, phone, 20" alloys ect ect… Price £53k, less £5k manufacture discount and a haggle at the dealers to £40k. It’s a pretty good drive as well, as far as the current Q7 goes its a step on dynamically and I don’t feel in anyway as pretentious as I did in that, the X5 I once owned or maybe a similar car, the Cayenne, priced to the same spec £66k …

The Range Rover Sport is the last car on Earth I would buy. I actually got bored even before I started changing bits and adding extras…HOW MUCH :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway thought I’d let you know, worth a punt if thinking of a 4x4 and there are big increases in power should you require. I can’t be arsed with that as I quite enjoyed how relaxing a place it was to drive (over 24hours) and feel it would defeat the object.

Pick it up next week

Nice one Jonny sounds ace and well done on some terrific haggling.

yeah thats some bargaining!

The Range Rover is the best so stop being tight.

Nice, I think they’re the most resolved looking car in the class. Also is it not the same platform as the q7 and Cayenne anyway? Sounds like a good price for effectively a new car, well done.

Prefer my Amarok to the RRS i had before. Gave it to the missus so had a good back to back to compare Do miss the TDV8 though.

Good work Jonny, agree the new RRS is a tad pricey!

I can’t open that Pete is that a new or old one. Don’t get me wrong I don’t dislike any of them, I just thought the barging info would be beneficial to others. I’m mighty unimpressed with the Porsche though, the options list is disgracefully expensive. I’m getting old, I’m no longer the badge Snob I used to be…a recession does that lol…Anyway I’m cheering for Toyota and Bruno in the Aston

I’ve got a 2011 TDV6 HSE, I bought it as an absolute opposite to the Exige, i.e. a wallowy comfy barge, and as the pic shows, the window cill height matches the top of the Exiges roof!

The economy is terrible - 28mpg on a regular 100mile mostly motorway round trip, but it’s ‘Dynamic’ mode coupled with paddle shift is surprisingly fun to use on the back roads - but can tear chunks off the tyres :lolno: ! I doubt I’ll have another after I’m done with this one, and definitely not new.

I checked out a Q7 the other day, it was massive, but strangely didn’t feel like a 4x4, more large estate. You’ll enjoy your toe-rag

I just hope the Toerag doesn’t go through front tyres in 7k miles like Q7’s do…that was a fecking nightmare with our’s and everyone else I know who currently owns one.

I loved my cayenne turbo. Engineering masterpiece, and it looks alright, from the inside! In the end it was about to need money spent on it so chopped it in. Had that for 5y and an ‘S’ for 2 years before.

More interestingly, JF, I drove a 650S at Goodwood on Saturday. I want one, and I want it now!

That car just seems wrong on so many levels.

If you’re in the market for a stupidly fast big car with clever all wheel drive, it’s worth a look.
I perfectly understand those who may say ‘why do you need such a car’

As my daily is now a 12y old 1.2 Clio I look on Chelsea tractors with scorn. But it was a great place to be.

Besides, my 2 Ridgebacks were the fastest dogs to the park in the morning.

Lol… I am struggling to see why you need a 500bhp 4x4 but I appreciate it’s gonna be fun. I’m just getting old, the badge thing is passing me by, a bit like my 30’s, in which I did the badge thing.

A 650S, that’s very cool. My brother is flying home Saturday to collect his 458 on Sunday. I drove a Spyder recently, it did nothing for me whatsoever and even checked my pulse upon exciting the car, I wasn’t dead! I very much need the space though as I’ve found the S4 unpractical for a family of five and a part time football coach.

650S, Cayenne Turbo, Exige,…I don’t think you ‘need’ any of these cars

650S certainly has a bit more drama than the previous effort MP4-12C thing which I think just did not look special enough for a supercar. I do like the 458 though.

I love the styling of the 12C - much better to my eyes than the 650S which is a tad fussy at the front.

The 12C has a very classy and slightly understated look which should age very well. I’d love one, however the Evora makes for a fine ‘real world’ alternative :lolno:

I’ll go with that too Tim, all good though.

Got the Touareg today, loving it

Is there an Audi S4 on the market?

Part ex’d, I couldn’t be arsed to sell it in the end…better close that thread actually.

I really liked your S4.
Shame it couldn’t be classified as ’ careful previous owner’ , but otherwise perfect for my needs.
