VVR/Track day Oulton Park

Agreed - good to meet up with some “new” faces It was a busy day, but everyone seemed to be having a good time.

I started the day with a dodgy driveshaft, & managed about 12 laps in the morning before knackering it Fortunately, there were a few “stars” around who worked hard & replaced it over the lunch break. You will not be surprised to hear that Martin & Steve Edwards did an excellent job with the spanners, helped by Geoff Cole who assisted with the undertray removal. However, special thanks go to Scuffers & Randy, who luckily had a spare driveshaft with them, which is now in situ on my car Beryl Stansfield (aka Mrs Rasle) looked after us with refreshments whilst spanners were turning - ta muchly So, I got out on track again in the afternoon

PS Cellophane Sarah was looking extra good yesterday - she’ll be at Brands on Saturday too

It was great fun and good to meet you all. Thanks for the ride, Gav. Your car looked bloody great on the way home too. Could have done with a few more clear laps though, wasn’t feeling hurtling up behind an MX5 and then having to sit behind it for half a lap!

Think I’m up for Cadwell on Sept 13th. Anyone else?

Cheers

Nick

Great to catch up with all the usual VVR gang and to meet a few more people along the way. Acheived all we wanted to on track until we ran out of rear tyres (oulton is not the place to run on the canvas!). Very busy out on track with some dubious driving standards which is unusual on these track days . Still, we avoided any incidents and had a fun day .

There were a lot of “Corporate Customers” out in MX5s, but I found that the instructors with them were very good at making sure you got past by waving as soon as possible. Unfortunately, with the day “only” costing 169 (ie we were being subsidised by the corporates), it was bound to be busy.
