Urgent, Am I stupid?

I knew that would get your attention

Anyway I have just taken off my diffuser ready for my new one tomorrow and while I was there I also went to cut a bit more of the nimbus sheild above and down the side of the rear box, however I couldn’t find my tin snips, so I decided just to remove it completely :astonished:
Now I’ve put it back together I’m not convinced I don’t need it anymore, as a matter of reference I have a 2bular decat and GT3 rear box and the 211 plinth conversion so I run with no plate on track.
So am I stupid and should put it back on now?

Just to add I just spoke to Jonnyfox and he runs his car without one, so I feel a bit less worried now.

Yes you are stupid.

HTH

Thanks mate, I knew I could trust you, now where is Uncle P?
I should have known better than expect a sane answer from anyone round here

Ade

I’d put it back on - that area is going to get very hot at Spa - better to be safe…

Not the answer I expected from UncleP, however what he failed to mention is where to put it back on

I am now not sure, I might modify it a bit before I put it back on if I’m going to, (READ:) basically I might have mangled it a bit taking it out without jacking the car up first

Must start a new thread, it will read “Mr Pesky in sensible answer shocker”

Ade

Even I wouldn’t like to see an S2 go up in smoke  Not worth taking a risk with such basic safety stuff imho, especially in a highpowered/modded car like your own. Every second will count if the worst were to happen.

I’ll bring the burgers

3 years without

And one day, your extinguisher will spray corrosive foam all over your engine bay…

Seriously though, hope not, Jonny.

My only issue with ade was the difference between NA/forced induction temps…fast circuit, lots of cool air tho

I thought that you had your exhaust covered in that zircotec stuff. Won’t that retain the heat in it until it reaches the back of the car?

For what its worth I don’t have any heat shield around the back of the car, but do have some between the manifold and the boot.

Only the manifold is zircotec coated, still undecided what to do, I think I will cut down the nimbus so it only covers the areas I need to worry about and refit it, this will get rid of most of the weight, then have a look at JF and Will while at spa and then re think mine, best safe than on fire
Thanks for all your inputs

The heat has got to go somewhere. I would pt it back on dude

I did, got a bit paniced over it all, so I cut off all the bits I didn’t need and stuck it back in

This thread is so far off topic I feel a need to bring it back.

Ade your stupid

hahahaha

Thanks guys, I put the shielding back on and all was well, bak in one pice from Spa, more on that later

What diffuser have you fitted?

I’ve been thinking about fitting a after market vx220 one to mine - should go straight on, just what if it would look right.
