He turned down my offer
…on the other hand, maybe you would want to read through the following thread first before committing to Circuitworx :
starting to consider a new toyota pump as I don’t rev my car past 8k anyway, seems shocking the problems with circuitworx pumps plus they do seem to have disappeared
I’d better get checking…
I have three oil pump housings, 2 stock and the Circuitworx.
Little rocket is not the best engine builder for starters… I’ve used the circuitworx gears for 6 yrs and have never had an oil pressure issue…
I haven’t checked them yet but I have emailed MWR as they were sent out after the date of that thread…while out of stock! So they would have been aware. I’ll probably get Minister to check during build before fitting otherwise Toda it is…
So now the std oil pump is $hit as well ???
Classifieds here I come !!!

Yet the Known Problems section remains rarely updated!
The fact that an upgraded oil pump doesn’t fail doesn’t necessarily mean that the OEM pump would fail.
The more I read about this issue, the less I’m convinced that the OEM pump is to blame.
Here’s what I’ve read pretty often :
"> the number one problem for broken oil pump gears is a unbalanced bottem end> "
Here’s another thread with useful information :
btw, can you see the symptoms of a failing oil pump in advance, before the aftermath damages the engine ?
like monitoring a dropping in oil pressure
Nope…
Stick a 50 watt bulb in the centre of the steering wheel triggered by low oil pressure …
It might not save your engine, but the ensuing crash would probably take your mind off it !!
Frank why did you get Circuitworx…
… and why did the Exige race team I’ve brought various bits off blow two engines and blame it on the oil pump? Or is it a case of pull too much G and KaBOOM! Slicks maybe…Are we back to dry sumping?
Slicks take things to another level as far as oil surge goes.

Because the stock pump is made of cheese…
That’s what racers do they blame everything but themselves and their missed shifts and their over reving the engine constantly… It’s never the drivers fault unless there are witnesses…

Sorry Chris but that is not the case, it has a point of failure which is outside the scope of the normal use of the engine, IE if you buzz the engine (pick 2nd instead of 4th on a down change) one of the first components to fail is the oil pump, this obviously leads to no oil pressure.
If you want to rev higher AKA Jonny Fox, then you will also need a better pump as constant high revs will kill it.
Most people when rebuild the engine would fit the upgraded pump as it added little cost, however now there are issues with these if available I’m just not going to bother as I do not plan on going over 8K rpm anyway.
a little update on my engine’s miserable ending : The oil pump gasket was out of alignement.
Where does that leave you Joel, under warranty still I assume?
Warranty
Here’s a short extract taken from the 211 owner’s manual :
“The Lotus 211 is designed and supplied into markets other than the UK only as a track use vehicle. Lotus offers no warranty on any ‘track use’ car in any territory.”
And yet, Lotus has supplied a new engine!
I have to praise Lotus to the skies.
They have been helpful and friendly at the utmost.
The new engine is properly installed and the car is currently awaiting A048-compliant weather.

Agree , and Nigel Mansell was a good exponent of that!!! IMHO
