Uprated oil pump

Has anyone fitted an uprated oil pump, and if yes, of which make ?

Cheers,
jbs

U O me Spa…bitch lol

lol Jonny!

My 211’s engine blew up last August at the Nordschleife (after only 3k miles). Damaged big end bearing caused by a failure of the oil pump, hence the topic of this thread
A new engine will be installed next week but I won’t make it to SPA I’m afraid. Need to run the new engine in and what not…

Sorry mate, sad news…must have been going some…Fitting Circuitworx on the NA build but can’t find it strangely after a search on MWR… EVO’s dry sump maybe. Did you have a baffled sump and or Accusump fitted?

I’ve been running the Circuitworx pump for 5 yrs.

What is the weakness with the OE pump? Is it high revs that kills them? If so, how high is too high?

Were you running the twin oil coolers at the time?

Every time I look at them on my car I cringe at how hard the standard oil pump must have to work to push the oil around the whole car.

Yes it is high revs that kills the pump, most kill the pump by buzzing the engine with an incorrect down change. If you are going to increase the rev limiter you need to change the pump.

The 211 has an Accusump, but no baffled oil pan. I would be lying if I said that I didn’t drive it hard (read: rev high often enough) but I never missed a gear downshifting or neglected the oil level.

I think that my 211 NA has only one oil cooler?
I remember reading somewhere that twin oil coolers weren’t advisable in a Lotus track car, as they would cool the oil by too much ?

Wes just pointed this out to me mate but I have one already?

Thanks Jonny, I will look into it

That seems expensive though, isn’t the pump gears about $200 delivered?

Interesting, I can’t find them for sale anywhere? JF where did you get yours from?

Link in seloc ad takes you HERE

Stock issues possibly Ade, I had to wait a while for mine from Monkey Wrench Racing.

Just gears $229 but I had it fitted $349 + shipping and duty.

That’s quite a difference in price from what Lir-Racing are asking, 499

Absolutely agree, I offered him 200 delivered, if he doesn’t like it I’ll wait for stock at MWR…

I must say though there is no mention of them even existing now on MWR or anywhere else I can find online!

I think I will do the same, ade.

also came accross this TODA oil pump kit:

I wonder how it differs from the Circuitworx.

btw I think circuitworx aren’t fabricated any longer. There used to be a website “www.circuitworx.com” which now doesn’t exist anymore.
