True or false?

Sounds to me like shades of a certain Mr Delorean who also got involved with LOTUS once before…but I could not possibly comment.

I know the sun is full of crap, but if this is true then it really is sad times for lotus enthusiasts.

Well if you out source ownership you may as well out source manufacturing…No one made a fuss when Lotus sold the name to a F1 team…

But who is Lotus really ? Lotus certainly are not British…

You can take away the tree, but the roots remain British

This Danny Bahar fella - it will all go t*ts up

Nah I think there will be some nice new cars in the next few years called Lotus and then people won’t have to ask who makes Lotus every time you stop…

All the wankers bitchin about the Lotus roots crap already have the Lotus they want as it is, they’re not gonna buy a new car…

Everyone in GB knows who Lotus are, they are a rather famous marque over here

I’m a WHAT???Thanks Frank

Almost 100% true, Frank - I for one, am certainly never going to be in market for a new one!

If you look around at any “Lotus Meet” in the UK, very few peeps actually bought their cars new!

Eeer no MrP - may be true on here  - new Lotus cars are in never never land tho’

Simon, I said “almost 100% true”. I appreciate that you may be in the “new” market (but have you previously bought a new Lotus though - serious question as I don’t know?), as are a handful of Nylocers, but there are very few existing UK Lotus owners who will cough up 45K+++ in the foreseeable future.

Personally, I’d be concerned if Lotus production moved abroad - not because it’s Lotus, but simply because I’d hate to see the UK manufacturing base shrinking even further.

I am with Pesky on this, I do not want to see us making more stuff abroad, the bosses of this country have a lot to answer for, first they push away all the manufacturing overseas to make 25p more per item after you factor in shipping, then they have moved most of the service sector abroad as it saves them in staffing and building cost so the share holders get a better divi. then to add insult to injury the Government are now lending Ireland several billion with no likely repayment but won’t lend Lotus a small 50million to keep some form of manufacturing in the UK, madness, utter madness :frowning:

I think it is fair to say that Proton have been looking for something to build in Malaysia with a Lotus badge on it since before they bought the company … and who can blame them. Badge engineering is nothing new. If the design work done in Hethel results in a sports car built in Malaysia that is engineered like a lotus, looks like a Lotus and drives like a Lotus at a price we can afford then we should all be glad for it.

Oh how I wish I had written this before the Paris motor show because we all now know that isn’t going to happen is it… Instead we’ve got 5 or 6 CAD designs that could have come out of the Nissan factory in Sunderland and which are going to be hopelessly expensive and apparently leave all the Lotus core values behind. Oh Sh1t

What a load of tosh Frank you obviously do not understand how strong we take our heritage over here,i have owned a lotus car for the last twenty seven years, with the last three years two new exiges. At least we have one thing to be greatfull for,we are not driving around in fat doughnut cars yet.

[/quote]Oh come on now …What’s the going price for British heritage at todays rates ?

I’ve owned British cars since 1969 and now I wonder what is a fat doughnut car ?

How much truth is sadly in that statement :frowning:

The day Prince William announced his engagement I couldnt believe the amount of people broadcast who just couldnt give a fook! I think its fair to generalise on the lack of patronage in UK today.

I think one of the prime example is that when you call the bank hotline, now is all divert to abroad country like India, sometimes i dont even know what they are saying and is soo hard to communicate with them and not to mention that i need to hold on the line for at least 30 mins before i can get through to the CS…

So is a bit sad to move more things abroad …
