Track Preperation Part 1

glad to see its finally together!
looks great and sounds like its running well to.
considering a trip down to donnigton on the 29th to watch
Dean

I’ve had a few people ask for a passanger ride on the 29th, I guess I better get a passanger seat and some harnesses sorted!!

I have to fabricte some new seat rails though as the standard S1 elise seat i bought to use as a passanger seat doesn’t fit with the new rear bulkhead as it is to reclined and hits the cage. lol.

Is anyone adverse to me just cable tieing them to the roll cage??

Sean, If I get my seat sorted you can use my drivers seat from my car

Superb Sean

I’ve learned a lot from you and you have shown me some great ideas… shame its finished really…

Look forward to seeing you at donny

Excellent work Sean, it takes a lot of time and commitment to turn a road car into an out and out track day/race car (been there) but it looks like its all been worth it. Hope it all works out for you in the coming season.

Sean, thanks for the info!

Sean, sorry to hear that the seat does not fit. I wish I knew. But, if the drivers runners can solve the problem, then I can give you the drivers seat (with the runner of course) instead of the passengers that youve got.

By the way, Ive just returned from Donny, where Ive heart that Sean with his Exige was the second fastest man in the track yesterday. [Fastest was a Peugeot with two engines].
Well done Sean

Well done at Donnington - was that on the standard VHPD?

Cheers guys. No worries on the seat George, I will make it fit somehow. Cheers Dave, if you get your seat sorted then no probs, if not don’t worry about it.

Yeah I did three sessions yesterday and in the last one I had a run against a Peugeot 206 with Cosworth 4wd running gear on slicks with Ohlins, dog box, carbon panels. It was basically a WRC car but with a proper engine and 650BHP (GT35 turbo for those in the know). Unfortunatly for me (and Maddog will back me up. lol) I had twiddled my tyre pressures and gone the wrong way, which made it horribly squiffy through the corners. The 2nd session was my best the car was spot on. In the last sesion I reckon the 206 was pulling 1 second a lap on me. Obvioulsy he monstered me down the straights, but I was better in the bends. The problem was with his power there were too many straights and not enough bends. lol.

Sean…

Yeah, those 2CV test days can get like that!

Seriously though, congrats Sean!

“Sean Bicknell was flying as usual, it seems that there is no stopping this man and his Lotus and after chatting in the pits it seems there is an extra 100bhp still to come for this naturally aspirated orange beast.”

Sean - just looking at the rules…and #26 states: “Sway bars (anti-roll bars) must be installed without exception, front and rear.” have you fitted a rear one?

I Guess its about time to revive this thread as I have been busy over the last week or so since Spa.

Picture below was taken last night, car on trailer ready to be taken to be measured for its new drive shafts.

We (me and my two faithfull buddies Wayne and Tony) are trying our hardest to get it readu for the last round of LOT at Brands in just over two weeks. Don’t know if we will make it, but if we don’t at least I have had four weeks headstart on next year.

More pics and stuff to follow.
