I thought I would do a bit of a picture diary of the work I am doing on my car over the next month in case anyone is interested.
A lot of you know I am going to give the Mid Engines Race Series a go next year, so in preperation for that I am taking my once immaculate, one owner, 10,000 mile car and am ripping it to bits in order to prepare it for racing. I am going to do it in two stages. Stage one will be basically everything apart from my new engine, so cage, extinguisher, battery cut off and lighten the car where possible. I am also going to try and make it easier to work on and fix problems etc. If anyone has any suggestions or coments, please let me know. I need all the help I can get. Big thanks to Randy and Russ who have already offered help and advice!!
Work started a week or so ago with me taking the engine and gearbox out, so that the box could be sent back to Quaife for a few internal mods and to have a freshen up.
Hi Sean - will help and attend at meets wherever possible. Is there a list of venues and times/dates yet so I can book em off with her who shall be obeyed???
Race dates tend not to be available until the New Year, once the circuits get their calenders sorted (eg F3, Brit GT, BTCC etc). I’m sure that Russ or Sean will post the dates as soon as they are known
I am working away until the end of next week, so no more progress till I get back. But then it will be full speed ahead, until it is done!!!
Heard today that Quaife have finished modding my box with the uprated claw and selector barrel indent spring. So that is ready to go back onto the engine.
Got to be something German with all that organisation of those small bolts. Can’t be a Lotus, they would have lost half the bits and used some sort of orange goo instead.
Cheers Ian. Yeah am away until the end of next week, but its 6:20am here and I am awake. lol.
I will be entering the motorsport class. The production class is very strict and to be honest there isn’t much that is “production” on my car.
I use the Ohlis 46mm three way adjustable dampers. Bought and setup by Plans Motorsport. Can’t recomend these guys enough. They are the only people I let work on my car, other than me of course. lol.
The car will go back together initially with the standard VHPD engine, but yes as Ian says I have a whole new K series on the way that is going to be a bit special.
