Massive balls - SEOT
I said “Driving Gods!!”
Lol… only kidding Uncle P
My secret to faster laps is letting my co-driver do the driving, he’s banned from having a go in future if he continues to set a faster pace in my car… I consider it rude!

I wasn’t referring to me, mate
I think balls of steel do come into it, plus possibly some not being as bothered about bending it.
I do keep considering an S1 shed as a track slag, If I bent an 8k car I could deal with it but the thought of killing the exige is just wrong and that is always in the back of my mind.
cough “Talent” cough
Well a lack of talent does not help me obviously

Not being funny, but an S2 Exige is now so comparatively dead easy to replace in whatever trim, especially if you’ve got track insurance, which just about everyone has…
What’s the friggin point of having any Exige, then tweaking it if you don’t track it??? All you need is practice
I have track insurance but its my baby As you say practice is what I need and I like my car so I dont really see the point of having a lesser one for the track, Just balls of steel.
Mr P …
After Gareth came out of your car he stated that the difference in grip between yours and Wes’s was night and day…
What are the most cost effective ways to increase grip?
Ie reduce weight/wings/splitters/diffusers/ride height??
JFK
I’ve eaten more burgers, drunk more beer, than Wes…plus I have a lower centre of gravity than him. Simples!
Seriously though, it’s mainly down to practising the stuff you learn from “real” drivers like the legendary Mike Wilds/other pro instructors, or our own forum members such as RussT, Gav Kirby, SeanB, Evosal, DaveP who regularly race Exiges/Elises.
Spend your hard earned on instruction first,& actually doing trackdays, before modifications, & you’ll not go far wrong.
I also dearly missed the cones this year
I still need reference points…
Peskys chassis is much lower and stiffer than mine… But that’s enough about the drivers, there are some differences between the car mechanicals as well.
PMSL
i’m slowly building more confidence with each trackday i do, i think the more you drive obviously the better/faster/smoother you will become. My co-driver darren has 10’s of trackdays and lots of testing hours with Marcos so it’s not surprising he gets straight into my car and is able to drive the wheels off it!!
At the end of the day though as long as you enjoy yourself, go home with a car in one piece who care how fast you are on track

That is 100% true Marc, & really sums it up.
During 2001/02, I was one of the slowest Exige drivers out on track. However, I always enjoyed myself, despite the friendly ribbing I got - I was just thrilled to bits that I was fulfilling a boyhood dream of driving on tracks I’d visited to watch real racers! Every circuit I booked on, I also paid for a tuition session. Over the 2 years I think I did about 15 trackdays, & my driving improved dramatically. Apart from changing to braided hoses/better pads & fluid, & fitting rear toe-links, I did nothing to the mechanicals until getting the Honda fitted in 2005 when the car had 38K miles on the clock, & I’d done 40 or 50 trackdays by then. At that point, I also ditched the standard suspension & fitted a set of Ntrons. Another 30K miles, & 30 more trackdays later, I took the plunge, & spent a shedload on the mechanicals/safety equipment. Pointless me doing any more - the car’s potential far outweighs my capability.
I’ll never be a “driving god” like the lads I mentioned above, or the numerous very quick guys on here (you know who you are!!!)

I agree 100% the cones are a god send. I think they really help you to practice turn in points and where you need to aim for.

Good post Pesky,I enjoy hearing stories about your car.
I think you did things right and having seen your car at a few shows I always wondered how long it took to get to that stage, and being a newcomer to trackdays think I will embark down the same path although an S2 path
