Time for a power upgrade

Had the car a few months now, & beginning to get the hang of it on track. I am annoyed at my lack of torque though & probably ready for a bit of a boost.

My car is a 2008 240pp with the big brakes. It’s got TRD filter, 2bular exhaust, apart from that its STD.

Any advice out there??

Cheers

Take out your gearbox first and upgrade that !!
Torque of 200 lb/ft will kill it .

Get a Honda conversion for the gearbox.
When you’ve sorted that, let me know who did it and I’ll follow suit!!!

Or…larger fuel pump and a choice of tunes and pulleys and maps.(and gearbox)
How much power, how much money

or…driver training

I’d go for a 260 ecu + fuel pump + Accusump. But then thats exactly what i did

  1. Kold-Fire / Komo-Tec 270 Mapping (must have!)

If you want more:
2. 2bular manifold / sports cat

Trackdays: charge cooling, e.g. Komo-Tec Phase 2 (280S/300S)

Leave it alone or just kill yourself…Modding leads to a slow and painfull death…
You don’t want to die poor do you ?

Why would you make the gearbox the first priority.Let the man do some mods and if the gearbox breaks then use an alternative.I’ve been running 200 lbs ft for 5 years and 25 k miles, cars done about 25 trackdays and im still on the original box.I dont use kerbs on trackdays and dont cane the shit out of the transmission, but the car is driven quite hard on the road.Just come back from a month in France,2000 miles and taken out for a 25 mile blat every day i was there.I know the box will let go one day but i wouldnt make it my first mod.

Probably because his let go within a couple of weeks of going to 200 torques  not bad advice if your planning on going that far.

Can only talk from my experience

You do realise you have just cursed your gearbox !
To be fair when my gearbox failed I was running 212 lb/ft

In order:

If going for 300bhp plus then chargecool it
OR if under 300bhp get a better I/c plus sort the airflow out via a dremel and some pipework.

Then:

Trd, largebore manifold and backbox, 550cc injectors, 2.8 pulley and a new ECU remap at every change of component (best to do lots of the above at once and just the 1 remap).

Then have a good relationship with your local traffic police and tyre fitter.

Tuned to 328bhp, driven daily and no gearbox problems so far.

Is yours still for sale then?

Cheers for replies.

I’ve heard good things of the Chris Neil 260 upgrade. Worth doing? How much torque would that give me?

C1RVY…
My data following 4 different dyno runs with different hardware each time

235.1 whp 180.1 lb/ft=CN 260
243.3 whp 191.4 lb/ft=CN 260+2bular 4/1
261.3 whp 201.6 lb/ft=CN 260+2bular 4/1+2.9 pulley
272.2 whp 211.5 lb/ft=CN 260+2bular 4/1+my own pulley+fuelling

There ya go …
Choose your flavour :sunglasses:

You can always go to 615 whp…

Just don’t use third

So by that you mean actually keep the standard one?!?!?

Flame suit on

Lol … for whatever reason the forge consistently out performs the standard one on the dyno …I don’t know why either !

seems toyota use many different grades of chocolate for the 3rd gear
