Yep the blue one, crying shame it was a fantastic engine !!
it was a DVA 220 BHP jobbie, dropping a Honda in now instead.
Happened due to a vernier failiure/design prob
Ouch! That went with a bang. Pretty much nothing salvageable from that then.
Piper 3 spoke vernier?

Yep common problem apparently on the 3 spoke vernier
Worth checking if anyones running them
You can see in this pic where its slipped on the one remaining tight allen bolt, it had done 5,000 mls and numerous trackdays inc Nurburgring, the other two were loose.
I had the same ones fitted on my VHPD. Must admit the thought of only 3 allen headed bolts stopping a lateral slip is quite concerning! There must be quite a bit of load on these…
Yep belt was in perfect condition, The car had been turning over very slowly the last few times i started it, obviously it had slipped a little and thrown the timing out, i thought the starter was acting up.
If i remember rightly the verniers on my old m/sport elise had 6 allen bolts.
Sorry to see that Chris - will be checking my verniers first thing in the morning

If you have any engine bits to sell on let me know
No probs Simon, i have quite a few nice bits from it that have survived inc, throttle bodies, emerald ecu, simpson race exhaust, caterham R500 cams, laminova, close ratio box, carbon airbox, 190 motorsport cam cover, lightweight clutch and flywheel, baffled sump.
Its going in on monday for the Honda conversion (latest fly by wire type) so i will get everything together next week, i was going to offer it on here first anyway.
