This is going to get expensive........

Well when I say that I mean with the amount of work needed or maybe not?

Booked in with JSR :sunglasses: I need my heater looking at, no fan so off with the front clam and I guess a new control unit and cover but while it’s off what else should I do?

Took the wheels off today and the front AP drilled Motorsport disks are cracking everywhere so as in the previous thread drilled or grooved? Backs aren’t great either so may as well do the lot. Will I need new pads all around? While I’m there new fluid so which one?

New wheel and boss as I’m not going to be waiting on Lotus Motorsport anymore…not a problem I guess. Possibly rear toe links? New oil and filter and that I hope should be that!

All advice welcome  as always.

Hi Mate,

Sorry to hear about your woes…

The only advice I can offer is get an S1…

With a wireless!!!

The lengths you will go to getting better lap times than me…

I’d go for grooved discs, drilled always have the chance of cracking, and Motul 600 fluid Jonny. Pads depends how buggered they are but generally they should be done with the discs on a track car.

PS - about to take the plunge on new Ohlins as nobody will seel me theirs!

I thought SRF was supposed to be the best fluid?

cheers

Boothy

AN S1…did you notice how it’s just wear and tear  it could of been so much worse  even with a wireless …I don’t think I’ve ever seen an S1 with an antenna for that matter?

Always used RBF600 myself but there are many options  It’s popular on a lot of road / track cars.

Not heard of SRF?

Tar Marky…hopefully they’ll not be fitted in time for Spa or I’m fooked! I think another weight penalty is in order

Started modding the R32 :astonished:

Dont know much about it myself tbh,had SRF in my old elise and the feel was great, I think a few of the racing gods use it

Well I should support it as I work for BP (who own Castrol)

BUY IT, ITS MUCH BETTER THAN MOTUL

Jonny, I think we have to just find a local fat bastard and ensure he is always your passenger

Grooved discs, are a definate as mine are cracked to (they are not cheap) RBF600 seems the best compromise for fluids, it is less hygroscopic than SRF but just as resistent to heat, I use it and have not had any problems since. I am going to get the elise parts ally belled rear grooved discs as my standard rears are now cracked as well (really bored of drilled discs now) Anyway hope it doesn’t get too pricey (the rbf600 is cheap from opie oils)

Your passenger Mr 260BHP

240 on a warm Belgian day

John at JSR said SRF needs changing twice a year, will try the 600 I think. Disc from Lotus 262+ each grooved fronts and rears drilled 112.50 + each.

Would stick to grooved rears too mate - a lot of people have seen them crack it seems.

I’m going to be ordering those from Eliseparts for about 300 unless someone knows of better grooved rear disc for the money, not convinced they are lighter but I hope they won’t crack.

I use the rbf600 from opie as it’s cheap enough that you can bleed it every few tdays.
Ade, the EP discs start at 24mm thickness instead of the usual 26mm incase you measure them after a couple of months and wonder where they’ve gone! I think they felt lighter than my old worn discs (hazy memory though).

A couple of things…firstly it says [color:#CC0000]If you are racing the car or have more than 190 bhp we advise the use of our AP discs and bells.
[/color] so are these correct ade?

Secondly how long are groved going to last in comparison to drilled?

He’s using them on the rears though which don’t do as much?

Still prone to cracking though, it would seem. Read a fair few posts about OEM drilled ones cracking.

I don’t understand what your on about? The ones on Ade’s link (EP ones) will be grooved. Only EP S1 discs are drilled/grooved which is what the photo is of.
