The start..(getting ready for LOT)

Had a busy day in the garage today.

Never done this before so it took me a while… didn’t realise all the seats and stuff had to come out to get the clam off, but that saves me a job later on !

Nice one Dave - are you still doing a “joint venture” with Rich?

Look forward to your updates

Not sure yet Rob, hoping to do as much as I can myself but it’s going to Randy for the cage and bukhead, so we’ll see how things plan out !

Dave - the start of what? Are you planning on racing it

Yep Steve… entering a few rounds next year. (have edited the thread title to reflect now)

Have no big expectations, just wanting to get some experience this year and see how I enjoy it. Then perhaps a full season in 2009 depending.

Ideally wanted to be Class A, but the Exige isn’t eligible, to be honest, I think Class B might be better as every man and his dog wants to be in Class A and I think I would have struggled to get in !

So there’s a Honda on the way… I’m not going to extremes and want to keep the car road-worthy so I can still drive to track days, but after taking the clam off I think I’ve lost a few kilos already with all the mud and stones that were trapped in there !

Good luck Dave, I look forward to getting updates and photos as comprehensive as Seans!

Excellent - did a couple of rounds as a spectator last year ans definitely hope to do a few more this year as I hear there are more “northern” venues. Oulton Park was some of the best car to car racing I’ve seen since I last went to a touring car day.

the best of luck to you.

I see there is a tecjwiki article about removing the rear clam, there dont seem to be one for the fron clam is this info readily available?

I got my instructions from the S1 service manual (PDF format)

If anyone needs a copy, send me a PM and I’ll happily forward it on.

Update:

So with the help of top man MarcP we got the existing VHPD out yesterday (or rather I watched and asked lots of daft questions and Marc did the work !)

Cheers matey… owe you one!

Bloody 'ell Dave that’s going to be educational.

Looking forward to seeing it done.

I am looking forward to getting to OP in the summer and seeing how it goes. You’ll enjoy passing my S2 in your S1 I suspect you’d have done that without the Honda

Ok… So I’ve not updated this for ages.

Not a huge amount of work done really, but it’s amazing how a couple of hours can disappear and you do very little.

Feels like a long way off yet, but hopefully will get closer in the next couple of weeks as the engine will be going in and it should be running again.

Still have the cage to sort, then just the fire extinguisher, cutoff and transponder to install !

Great stuff, Dave, looking great - can’t be easy working out of the UK during the week, then prepping the car at weekend. Still, another 5 weeks to go…

8 weeks for me mate… will be a spectator only at Brands - checking out the competition

The series is amazingly popular this year…hard to get entries for rounds - god knows what next year will be like !

Well Done Dave, looks good.

Believe me, no matter how much work you do in the next 8 weeks, you will still be spannering at 3am on race day!!!

Thanks Sean…have new found respect for what you’ve been doing - one hell of a job you’ve done there, especially the first time around.

Looking forward to seeing this out there Dave.

Are you changing the suspension?

Nope…suspension was new last year so sticking with that unless Henk wants to do some testing for him

Couple more pics…

When did you say this would be ready…
