The road to ANGLESEY pt 2

If the midland boyz can do it - so can the souherners.

Me and Ade (and I think Will) are leaving from the SE/E corner on Friday.
For others coming up on Friday, a meet up someone along the M1 could be in order.

Yes, I’ll join you on the Friday.

[Cross post]

Whatever you do, don’t go down the A55, enter the national park via the A5 and take in the majesty.

I seem to recall the ‘EVO triangle’ is accessed off this route. It something like right at Llangollen (the seen of an infamous Exige car park shot in the days of the Doctor Who exhibition) and left over the bridge on to the A542. Round Horseshoe Pass and up to the crossroads with the A5104, where you turn left and head back down to the A5.

That and the stretch of the A5 a few miles before you met up with the A55 (mountains, lakes, flowing bends, etc) are real treats.

Ian

The EVO triangle is a little nearer the border.

It is a good point about the A55. Heavily policed and zero tolerance to speeding policy in place by NW Police.

I’ve done a trackday with a group gathering before and they were waiting for us on way home.

So I would use the A5, much nicer drive too.

Now this is a good plan, maybe toddington services for 11am?
Anyone else going to join in the fun?
Wonder what a group of Exiges together is called? A gaggle?

You sound like a typical owner/driver of one of them pointless 4x4s, which are only used for taking kids to school

Speaking of which, I pi$$ed myself laughing at Ricardo Gardner’s (poncy Bolton footballer) totally chavved up Range Rover Sport yesterday - it has a “Cadillac” stylee front grill, chrome bling wheels, but best of all, flared body/wheel arches with inset neon lights.

No that’s ok even if you are Scottish you can still be a cool motherf***er in an Exige

You Sir, need to lay off the alcohol. STEP AWAY FROM THE SHANDY.

I think youll find the collective term, is a Pride of Exiges.

Thats more like it can I travel with you

lol I’ll just get my coat and jump in the wifes 4x4, I’m off

Okey dokey - taking Ade’s lead and stopping off and meeting up at the Toddington services.

For me, it’s a 328 mile trip (Via Michelin)to Anglesey and so stopping off after 1hr 41mins and 91 miles seems like a good idea to ‘all’ meet up.
Will, your coming from sunny Ipswich - does this route (south) seem ok to you or are you taking the A14 route ?

11am sounds decent - unless others have ideas

Heading south doesnt make much sense for me. I’ll be A14, M6 bound.

Why don’t we collect evo from Chorley Wood services? they are about 60 miles from Toddington, be a nice leg stretch and chance to get fuel as it is a shell? meet about 12pm to leave at 12.30pm?

Corley Services. The first on the M6. That would work for me.

Just did a quick route check (to Corley):

Southbound via the A12 & M25 - 167 miles and 3hrs 9 mins
Westbound via the A120 & M11 - 157 miles and 3hrs 19 mins
Northbound via the A12 & A14 - 167 miles and 3 hrs 30 mins

I must live at the centre of the universe

Pete from you I know I would take the A120 M11 option
but def weird how close they all are

Looks like I will now have to travel alone, as I’ll have to make a later start. Now getting tyres fitted on the Friday morning. I’ll see you there guys, and still hoping to be there in time for the curry. We’ll see.

Sorry to hear that Will, no chance of getting them fitted on Thursday then ?

Looking at the map (remember them !) from my neck of the woods it will be up the M6, then the M6 toll, onto the M54 to Telford then onto the A5 past Oswestry, past Llangollen, then I have a choice:

Depending how fecked I am I ccould take the A494 south around the Snowdonia National Park, get the A470 north at Dolgellau, past Ffestiniog gogogogogogcchhhhh and connect up with the A5 at Bets-y-Coed

or

Carry on up the A5 and join up with the A55 just before the Mebai Bridge.

One adds on an hour but I’m sure the drive will be something else.

So, I need feedback from our Welsh/NW Exigers on the route…
