As this is officially my 10000th post, I feel it appropriate to be serious for a change, & say a few words of sincere thanks. So here goes, thanks to:
Lotus Cars for initially having the bottle to produce a roadgoing version of their Motorsport Elise i.e. the Exige S1, & then continuing to make some of the best road/track cars available, for what we consider to be sensible money.
David Brown (Mr Admin) for setting up this fantastic forum in the first instance. He has continued to maintain/host it, whilst leaving the rest of us to just get on posting for the past 10 years. We all owe him an enormous debt of gratitude the forum has always been an incredible source of helpful information/advice, & boy oh boy, we really did need it in those early days once we started using our cars as intended! Thank goodness we have never felt it necessary to go formal in the way exiges.com operates the forums are open for all & everyone to see, & there is no committee etc to argue/take issue with! Long may it continue!
All exiges.com members past & present, who have contributed to not only the technical/help threads, but who have also kept this a friendly, often entertaining , & most importantly, a safe place to visit for Exige enthusiasts of all ages. For that, you all deserve a massive pat on the back! I genuinely believe that there cannot possibly be a better Car Forum or Community anywhere, which is not either a formal Members only club, or one which restricts access to view some topics. It really is fantastic that its not only Exige owners who contribute so much to the forum - our pals who drive Elises, 211s, Sevens, Elans, etc & other sporting cars all play a big part in making exiges.com what it is today. We do of course have many valued contributors from outside the UK, & their input is very welcome, & much appreciated by us all.
All the folk who have become my close & dear friends over the years, purely as a result of us a) owning a Lotus of whatever variety, b) frequenting exiges.com, & c) meeting up regularly at trackdays, race meetings, & other social events (especially our numerous laugh a minute visits to Le Mans).
Finally, I believe that the guys & gals at Bookatrack, & Lotus On Track in particular deserve a special thanks. Without their help & support, we would not have been able to use our cars as intended in such friendly & safe environments, or indeed see similar cars to our own being regularly raced both in the UK & Europe. Some of my most enjoyable times over the past 9 years have been participating in trackdays, & also supporting the many contributors to exiges.com, who have been able to race their cars in the UK & Europe, & all of this whilst being in the company of like minded exiges.com members.
Thanks for listening, & heres to the next 10 years!
Here here, well chosen words and thankyou to you as well for either part or fully organising some of the those great events you mentioned.
A worthwhile 10,000th post to mark 10 years as well.
On a different note, has it taken you the last 2 days to write that?
I’m not such a regular visitor here as I used to be, largely because I swapped my Exige for a gay “Elise coupe”. However, I do want to say that Pesky is an awesome bloke who’s made a bigger impact on the “community feel” of Exige ownership than anybody I can think of. It’s always a pleasure to meet you Rob, and good to see you’re still posting shite on here.
Cheers Pesky Thanks for making Exige ownership feel even more special.
Rob
Having only met you recently for the first time at the 10th celebration, due to this forum I felt I already knew you and many others.
This forum was a godsend when I was looking for my Exige over 2 years ago now, and has proved invaluable since then. thanks to all and here’s to the next 10 years!!
Alski
Rob was the first person I ever met at a Lotus meet way back in 2002 and he then took me under his wing. However I never made it onto here until I owned a girly S2 Exige and felt worthy enough.
Rob had been peskering me constantly to do a track day and use my car as it should be but it took until two years ago until I gave in. Very glad I did now and slowly I am turning into a Pesky clone giving out the same advice as he gave me and telling S2 owners to keep the roof on! I have not drunk any carpal tunnel gravey yet though and I dont think I want too
So thanks dad for that first meet and all the years there after and being one of the people who made sure I will always hopefully have a Lotus.
Here’s to the next 10,000.
Nice post MrP - damn, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have bought this infernal machine and had sooo much fun over the last 8 years - thanks, and have a gravy on me
Many thanks for playing the largest part in making this forum what it is today, quite simply the best car forum out there. Looking forward to the next 10,000 posts!
And eventually getting along to a trackday or two this year
So is he ever going to make another post or is he just sticking with 10000? Imagine how gutted he will be if he gets dodgy S2 dash syndrome and suddenly finds himself on 73 posts
