Test drive in the V6

Anyone got one yet ? it seems really quiet on this again .

I’m reading that the factory are building lhd as a priority for export first … I’m sure they have their reasons …
For me … the whole concept is getting a bit stale now … I think Lotus peaked with the lightweight S1 and modernised with the S2 …
For a truly fast track car an Audi S1 is where it’s at.
S2 with a few bits added will shame an S3’s power / weight …
Depends what you’re after of course but I kinda think the Exige peaked some time back.

They should have released the 300RR a few years ago…would have sold lots I think.

depending who you ask… Exige peaked at S1

If the person that’s asked likes Rover 170hp engines and old beetle headlights then yes they would say that lol .

I’m quite looking forward to having a go in an S3. I do think they should of moved the interior on a bit, but will reserve judgement until I have seen one in the ‘plastic’

Larger engine bay of a S3… wonder what’ll fit in there

Couldn’t agree more! I think it was an opportunity missed.

Sean’s right though, reserving judgement until you’ve either seen it in the plastic or driven it is better than just pure ‘stat mongering’

What V6 was in the 300RR , is it the same as the S3 ? Styling wise I think the 300RR is the best of the lot , better than the GT3 and the new S .

It was a NA 3 litre GM Ecotec V6 wound up to around 400bhp.

Biggest difference was that it was mounted longitudinally (properly!).

Yeah just had a look on google , nice spec engine , even a F1 style air box

We should make a limited “Exiges.com” run of 300RR copies … I’d be up for it :sunglasses:

If you want one you only have to go to Pilbeam with a big wad of cash!!

When i was there the other week he had a part assembled one in his workshop he was building for a customer to the original spec of the 300r (although it had a bespoke v8 in the back not a v6)

It is a full blown race car, other than the body panels i cant see how they would have been able to make them suitable for road use…

Yeah, that’s probably the same one I was asked to keep quiet about ages ago Gav! Hahahaha

Where would you get a set of 300RR clams from ? I know there are loads of the GT3 ones but not seen 300RR ones for sale .

Now that would be a great idea !

Perhaps a nice V8 from an M3 in it… or one of the Chevy V8s ?

Chevy V8 you say

Chavvy V8 more like

Has that not been done before in the GT1 ? Big old lump

My mate has moulds for the 300rr panels. He offered me a set of carbon clams off the red 300rr
