Just been to JCT 600 with 6970k today for a test drive in the new V6. It is very good i liked it alot and i think it will be a good seller for Lotus. The engine is smooth and pulls really well and the electronic settings are ace, just wish Lotus had sent up a car in a colour that showed the bodywork off a little better.
What colour was it , what’s the build quality like ? Just that build quality was at the top of daddy bears list , well before he got the sack that is .
Is it stonking quick like they have been saying , much over the S2 S ?
It was silver but although looked good it would have looked better in yellow/orange/white/red.
As Pete said was very impressive, with no rattles so build quality lookes to be strong.
Unfortunatly the test route wasnt great so a trip to CN on Friday or Murrays on Saturday is on the cards
Hi moomin, yes it is stonking quick but it’s also how it delivers it compared to the S2 S.
A few pics from yesterday
does look good, i’d loose the wheels though
Looks ace fellas but I need more, come on it pulls well…MORE lol
So how about an exiges.com report for us little masses…
Jonny … switch off buddy ,its got a blower !
Put it this way jonnyfox I could’nt stop grinning when i got out of the bloody thing. Just need to get it on a test drive on better roads, the feel of the gear change is very similar to the S2 which was a surprise but thats cables for you I suppose. The ride feels more compliant though and it does seem to ride more like a larger car which it is but the the cabin is just the same. The brakes are very instant in feel as is the power delivery, you can pootle about at 30 mph in fifth put your foot down and away you go the torque of the V6 is the biggest difference from the S2. The electronics to control the car in my opinion are definitely needed you could soon make a big mess of things (especially in your underpants) but a good driver would have great fun in it on the track. That would be the best place for a test drive.
Now that’s the best review I’ve read to date Danny Barr none lol
Apologies if I’m getting this wrong …
The S3 is 15% heavier with 345 bhp …
Theoretically an s2 with just 293 bhp will have the same power/weight ratio
Just seems to me that it can’t be THAT stonking ?
Not slagging it off at all ,just putting it in perspective.
I bet that in the world of planes, you can find a power/weight of say a jumbo, and find a small single engined prop plane with the same sort of power to weight.
Then ask yourself
1 Which would you like to fly to the other side of the world in?
2 Which would you like to enter the Reno air races in?
There’s soo much more to the way a car drives than power to weight.
Or for that matter, power or weight!!
Was a shame most of the route was 30/40/50mph with a quick blast on the motorway but it pulled very strongly with bags of torque and you didnt need to rev it at all (not sure if that is a good thing).
No squeaks or rattles but interior looked just like mine but with heated seats and switch for traction options of Touring/Sport/Race. As the route didnt allow (or rather James the guy from Lotus didnt think was a good idea) I didnt get past the Touring and Sport modes. Touring allows you to floor it and be a hooligan out of roundabouts but it keeps everything under control, Sport allows less electronic intervention and opens the exhaust valve for more noise (valve opens at 4000 revs in Touring). This comes with the Race Pack at 2k but has got to be an essential option to be ticked.
Oh and you can see probably more of the cars you have just passed out of the rear view mirror than in the Evora.
I like it enough to be planning a further drive next weekend at Murrays on a more suitable route.
All I can say jfk is test drive it and see for yourself
In reality of course I’m probably only jealous !
…
And JSR as usual has answered with a well thought out reply !
… In aircraft I’d choose no engine at all …Gliders Rock !
Don’t look at peak power, look at torque to weight ratio across the entire rev range, I reckon the V6 would be faster apart from off the line due to the extra weight it has to haul to 30mph, then there would be little competition

Ive not driven one as yet, I’m waiting for a track drive of the cup car. I have however had a good poke around undr the skin… Very interesting!
I like the look of it from the front, but still can’t get on with it from behind… Also not keen on the wheels.
Back looks better in the flesh Dave but with you on the wheels.
